As a well-established regional paving and construction company, we are seeking a Wheelman to join the field operations team based in southern Maine. This hands-on role is critical to the success of asphalt paving projects across the region, offering the chance to work with an experienced crew and reliable equipment in a safety-first environment.
What You'll Do as the Wheelman:
- Operate the wheel on paving equipment as part of a cohesive crew across various project sites
- Monitor and adjust machine controls and grade/slope settings to meet job specifications
- Identify and report safety issues or equipment concerns immediately to the foreman
- Lift or maneuver up to 50 pounds regularly and safely
- Travel regionally with the crew as needed, including overnight stays
- Work extended hours in outdoor conditions, often in hot weather, while following all safety protocols
Must-Haves as the Wheelman:
- 3-5 years of experience operating the wheel on asphalt paving equipment
- Familiarity with DOT standards, paving operations, and safety procedures
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (CDL preferred)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Comfort with physically demanding labor and extended shifts in the field
Nice-to-Haves as the Wheelman:
- Experience reading and interpreting MSDS sheets
- Previous work with slope automation or advanced paving technology
- CDL license or other industry certifications
