    POSITION: CIVIL ENGINEER

    LOCATION: LIBERTYVILLE, IL

    STARTING SALARY: $58,991 - $75,674

     

    JOB SUMMARY: The general function of this position will be to preform work of difficulty in directing and performing a variety of complex engineering and project management assignments related to water distribution and sanitary sewer infrastructure. This position is responsible for performing technical work in connection with the investigation, review, planning, design, construction and maintenance of various aspects of Public Works infrastructure improvements. This position also answers engineering calls and questions related to permits, projects, connection fee calculations, reviews, etc. The position is under general direction and supervision may be exercised over consultants and contractors.

     

    The Civil Engineer must have the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, with employees, consultants, other agencies, and the general public. The engineer must have thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, the ability to organize project documentation, to schedule and conduct meetings, gather, organize, and analyze data or information related to the assigned projects, manage preliminary and final design projects, review pay estimates and invoices, review development plans for code conformance, and summarize technical information concisely for public consumption.   You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County. Being able to build working relationships with employees, 30 countywide departments and the public, is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning.

     

    To be successful in this role you should have a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Construction or Municipal Engineering and 0 to 5 years of related experience. Previous internships or knowledge related to Public Works, underground construction, or consulting engineering a plus. You must possess an EIT Certificate and intend to pursue PE certification. You must also possess a valid Driver’s License, supplemented by a satisfactory driving record.

  • Qualifications
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associates degrees with extensive industry experience will be considered.
    • A minimum of 5 years direct-sales experience.
    • A minimum of 3 years in the federal government space.
    • Ability to market and develop business opportunities with limited support or daily direction.
    • A strong familiarity of the government market for Whitlock target product and services.
    • Extensive list of key contacts at Federal Government Contractors and Agencies.
    • Experience selling large UC and AV solutions, preferred
    • Excellent customer communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Strong ability to close business, securing orders under acceptable company terms and margins.
    • Ability to travel regularly.
