    WHOLE WOMAN’S HEALTH ALLIANCE is a 501(c)3 organization that intentionally seeks to open clinics in areas of the country which are most impacted by anti-abortion legislation. WWHA has an ambitious mission to improve access to quality abortion care through direct service provision, purposeful litigation, and advocacy and strategic communications.     

     

    SUMMARY

    The Social Media Strategist will be responsible for the day-to-day programming of both Whole Woman’s Health and Whole Woman’s Health Alliance social channels. We are looking for a highly motivated individual that thrives in a fast paced and matrixed environment. The ideal candidate will have experience managing social media accounts for a high-profile brand, great project management skills, and a passion for digital content development and community management. This role is responsible for increasing brand awareness, generating conversation and engagement around brand messages, and developing strong relationships within our online community. This role manages the multiple social media platforms while coordinating with internal teams from across the organizations to support brand objectives and ensure content consistency. Duties include strategic content development and execution, research and development of innovative social media practices, and planning for the social media component of organization-wide campaigns.

    This person will demonstrate strong knowledge of online and field organizing tools and social media tactics; a creative, experimental approach to campaigns; a strong ability to independently advance projects and use analytical skills to evaluate and redesign campaigns.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Organize and maintain an editorial calendar, working congruently with marketing/ services/ advocacy/ development to incorporate needs from various teams to support larger initiatives and strategic priorities.
    • Manage the day-to-day content for WWH and WWHA accounts across platforms (currently Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). 
    • Create strategy and launch presence on other social networks, including Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat.
    • Manage paid social media advertising campaigns for patient services.
    • Organize and oversee relationship with WWH and WWHA content experts, coordinating with internal and external experts to develop stories that support our narrative and priorities.
    • Cover and publicize events, programs, announcements, and strategic communications campaigns in relation to advertising, fundraising, and advocacy priorities. 
    • Develop and implement branding and digital media protocols, policies, and guidelines.
    • Execute or coordinate live videos and photography of WWH and WWHA clinics and community work for social media accounts.
    • Leverage social listening tools to monitor and respond to conversations on owned channels and around relevant brand and category topics. 
    • Create and maintain relationships with micro and macro influencers in order to grow our reach through their promotion of our platforms.
    • Act as an advocate of brand integration within the organization, encouraging appropriate incorporation of social media and other owned channels in relevant projects.
    • Review new social media technology and make recommendations regarding potential benefits for joining. 
    • Stay current with all social media industry developments and best practices and provide ongoing guidance to internal/external partners.
    • Report social media performance through analytics weekly, monthly, and often per campaign analytics. Provides benchmark data to inform department decisions.
    • Monitor competitors and market changes.
    • Host media and special guests in WWH clinics, as needed.

     

    EXPERIENCE AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, business administration or a related topic, plus three to five years related job experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, training and experience may also be considered.

    • Minimum of three years’ experience using social media tools for an organization via blogging, micro-blogging, online social interaction, online media sharing, social media monitoring, and analytics.

    • Experience in strategic planning around future applications of social media presence.

    • Thorough understanding of all social media channels, tools, etiquette, best-practices, and metrics.

    • Familiar with industry standard management tools and third-party services such as Hootsuite, Cision, Sprout Social, etc.

    • Demonstrated superior writing and presentation skills.

    • Superior interpersonal communication skills.

    • Professional demeanor to represent WWH and WWHA favorably in a public forum.

    • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, exercising sound judgment and managing matrix relationships to meet team goals.

    • Demonstrated ability to uphold and promote WWH and WWHA’s values and link communications efforts to the values and the mission.

    • Travel is currently limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a post-pandemic landscape, travel will be expected approximately 10% of the time.

    • Work at off-site locations will be required, including at clinic sites, repro events, and CEO speaking gigs.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must possess the ability and capability to perform any task. 
    • Must have excellent visual and hearing acuity.

     

    REMOTE REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be able to cope with the reduced social interaction and contact
    • Must be self-disciplined and not be distracted from working, be able to complete the expected working hours, and be able to work without direct supervision
    • Must be able to arrange their family or other commitments to facilitate a suitable working regime and environment
    • Must have good communication skills including written and verbal reporting
    • Where necessary, must be willing and able to use new or different communications and IT equipment
