POSITION SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds
- Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair electrical systems
- Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove, and install vessel systems and components
- Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, repairing the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
- Utilize NMEA 200 and other protocols on vessel operating systems
- Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate work orders
TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
- 2-5 years’ experience preferred
- Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Basic boat handling skills preferred
- Must possess own tools
- Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
- Reading – Has the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and understand very complex material (technical reports, equipment specifications)
- Mathematical – Basic math and metric system knowledge is required
- Writing – Required writing to explain or describe information
- Planning/Organizing – Performs activities planned by others
- Dependability – Follows instructions, responds to management direction; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan
- Safety and Security – Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and material properly
