    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Wildlife Biologist to support some of California's most important projects. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our group of more than 100 environmental professionals in Northern California.

    This position would focus on office-based work such as database and literature review, technical writing, permitting, and reporting, but may also include biological fieldwork. This hybrid role will be based in our Oakland, CA office.

    The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

    • Conducting desktop analysis of biological resources and preparation of biological technical reports to document results.
    • Preparation of technical reports to document survey and monitoring findings.
    • Preparation of permit application packages, including CDFW 1602, USACE 404, and RWQCB 401.
    • Preparation of Biological Assessments for submittal to USFWS or NMFS.
    • Staffing of field efforts, including preconstruction surveys and biological monitoring.
    • Surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.
    • Monitoring of construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements and/or permits
    • Participation as an active and positive member of AECOM’s Impact Assessment and Planning practice in the SF Bay Area.
    • Occasional travel in Central and Northern California may be required.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field.
    • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/and or education in technical report writing and/or preparation of permit applications.
    • Valid U.S. Driver License required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 2+ years of relevant work experience in construction monitoring, environmental inspection, habitat assessments, and/or biological surveys.
    • Experience surveying for special-status species is desirable but not required.
    • Plant identification skills are desirable but are not required.
    • Knowledgeable about common and special-status northern California wildlife species.
    • Experience with field data collection tools such as Collector, Trimble units, and others.
    • Has a positive attitude and is adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Highly organized with a strong detail-oriented work style.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
