    JOB SUMMARY:  Clean parts by whatever prescribed system necessary, varnishing and treating equipment. Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, yard or work site by performing the following duties:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Clean electric motors by means of stripping, pressure washing and sandblasting.
    • Assist in the stripping of A.C. and D.C. motors, generators, armatures and fields.
    • Properly paint the equipment, electrical windings, including spraying of whatever types of coats specified.
    • Handle varnishing process as specified.
    • Painting of assemblies, whether in immediate or final stage after assembly to render the product to a professional appearance.
    • May be required to perform duties in the area of taking winding data of motors.
    • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with hoist and cleans work area, machines and equipment to assist machine operators.
    • Operates industrial truck or electrical hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
    • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
    • Opens containers.
    • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand.
    • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
    • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
    • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
    • Counts, weighs and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
    • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales or other containers.
    • Assist in the loading of transport vehicles as required for product delivery.
    • Loads truck for Industrial Truck Operator.
    • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
    • Clamps sections of portable conveyor together or places conveyor sections on blocks or boxes to facilitate movement of materials or products.
    • Removes samples of winding materials, labels with identifying information and takes samples to supervisors for recommendations.
    • Assembles crates and containers for storage and shipment of materials.
    • Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics or chemicals into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrow, scrap truck or barrels.
    • Operates industrial truck, electric hoist or multi ton crane to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

    EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • High school education; or up to one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
    • Basic comprehension of fractional values and ratio calculations are required when mixing paint, thinners, catalysts, etc. Arithmetic skills are essential for many of the remaining day to day functions.
    • Basic understanding of computer operation and corporate software may be required to initiate and terminate work order entry.
    • Read and understand work orders, shop instructions, specifications and procedures manuals, and posted safety instructions. Individuals must know the location of and how to read the material safety data sheets (MSDS) and interpret as to the severity of the potential hazards that exist when using the variety of solvents and chemicals required when performing the task as required.

     This job has no supervisory requirements.
