    WRIGHT-PATT CREDIT UNION IS HIRING A FULL TIME (40 HOURS) STUDENT LOAN SALES REPRESENTATIVE FOR OUR CONSUMER LENDING TEAM.

    THE STUDENT LOAN SALES REPRESENTATIVE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROMOTING WRIGHT-PATT CREDIT UNION’S STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM TO STUDENTS, PARENTS OF STUDENTS, AND OTHERS BY WORKING WITH AREA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, HIGH SCHOOLS, TUTORING SERVICES, FINANCIAL COUNSELORS, SELECT EMPLOYER GROUPS, AND OTHER REFERRAL SOURCES. THE STUDENT LOAN SALES REPRESENTATIVE WILL PARTNER WITH THE CREDIT UNION’S THIRD-PARTY STUDENT LOAN PROVIDER CU STUDENT CHOICE (CUSC) AND OUR MARKETING DEPARTMENT TO PRESENT THE STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM TO POTENTIAL USERS IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER. THIS POSITION WILL BE THE PRIMARY LIAISON BETWEEN CUSC AND WPCU AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR GROWTH OF THE STUDENT LOAN PORTFOLIO AND REPORTING ON THE PORTFOLIO TO MANAGEMENT.

     

    • Organizes and participates in activities to promote the student loan program, working with area schools, WPCU Partners, and other referral sources. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed.  Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated. (35%)
    • Serves as the credit union expert on student loans, answering questions for members, frontline staff, and other Partners within the credit union. Coordinates and analyzes reporting on the portfolio and works with the Marketing and Collection Departments to help ensure the portfolio is performing up to expectations from an origination, member service, and loan quality standpoint. (30%)
    • Helps create and organize educational material, programs, and events to help explain and market the credit union’s student loan program to members, Partners, and referral sources. Maintains accurate and current student loan information in the credit union knowledge base and member facing collateral. (20%)
    • Maintains a working knowledge of educational finance concepts and industry trends. Recommends new student lending programs that will meet the financial needs of our members and enhance their financial health. (5%)
    • Supports student loan training for entire Credit Union, including initial loan training, advanced loan training and product knowledge training. (5%)
    • Works with internal and external auditors, regulatory agencies, third party lending partnerships, and assists with administering vendor oversight program. (5%)

    Required Skills

    The Student Loan Sales Representative must possess the following knowledge and skills:

    • Associate’s degree or a minimum of two years of college experience preferred.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience with a financial institution in a capacity where there was involvement with a student loan program. Prefer experience in a credit union consumer loan department.
    • Minimum two years outside sales or equivalent experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze, reason, problem solve, and prioritize work independently.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and solve problems and/or design recommendations to accomplish business and tactical goals.
    • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Office products.
    • This individual must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable as vehicle travel throughout the region is required for this position.
