  • Responsibilities

    A position is currently available for a Lead Missile Systems Engineer. Candidates will lead all technical efforts of the threat engineering and software development teams contributing to design and analysis activities in support of Navy cruise missile defense initiatives. Key responsibilities include ownership of the technical rigor for missile models and simulations for the Navy customer, defining the technical approach for, and directing technical efforts of, multiple separate but related modeling and simulation development projects, and acting as the principal technical advisor to the customer. In this role, the candidate will work within a multi-organizational team, leading some efforts and supporting others that are led by a community partner. The products to be developed include supporting ongoing activities in developing high fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom digital flight simulations (navigation, guidance, control, propulsion, mass properties, aerodynamics, RF seekers, altimeters, spent stages, debris), generating digital data and supporting documentation, and interfacing with government customers and prime contractors to establish performance requirements and specifications.

    Required Skills

    Candidates must possess a degree in AE, ME, Physics, or Math (advanced degrees preferred). Candidates must have at least 15 years of experience successfully leading multi-disciplinary engineering efforts using a systems engineering approach. Candidates should demonstrate experience and capability in one or more of the following areas: Leading Diverse Multi-Organizational Teams, Analysis and Modeling of Ballistic and Cruise Missile Systems including Vehicle Design and Operation, Flight Dynamics, Missile Propulsion System Design, Performance Analysis, Supersonic/Hypersonic Aerodynamics Prediction, Missile Navigation, Guidance and Control, 3-D CAD Design, and Flight Test Data Analysis. Candidates must possess a general understanding of missile seeker operations, and the development and impacts of RF and IR signatures and debris to Navy defensive systems. An understanding of Navy defensive weapon systems is a plus. “The candidate must be a US citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance (refer to: http://www.dss.mil/disco/indus_disco_Intrim.html)
