    Position summary: Responsible for collection of field surveying data, and operation of specific survey instruments for the field crew. U.S. Residency Required.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations and angles
    • Perform boundary, topography, ATLA, right of way, and construction surveys
    • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total station, GPS, and survey vehicles
    • Record accurate and clear field notes
    • Document assignments
    • Collect data using survey equipment
    • Perform calculations

    Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Skills in mathematics and coordinate geometry
    • Familiarity with total stations, data collectors and GPS

    Preferred Experience

    • Related experience

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

    Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

  • Qualifications
    • Administer construction contracts for assigned projects.

    • Familiarity with the standard specifications for road and other transportation construction in Missouri and their applications.

    • Interprets construction plans, specifications and special provisions and makes corrections as required.

    • Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally with clients, residents, government officials and contractors to meet the needs of projects.

    • Ability to resolve construction problems and prepare responses to contractor claims.

    • Supervise inspectors, make hiring and other employment-related decisions.

    • Prepare or oversee preparation of project documentation, reports, payment estimates, change orders, and final plans.

    • Willing to travel and stay out of town a week at a time if required for project needs.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

    • Ability to handle large projects and work independently on job sites.

    • Perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.
