    Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a licensed professional Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our Water Resources/Stormwater team in Loveland, CO. Qualified candidates must have 10+ years of experience in water resources, including stormwater drainage. Candidates with previous work and/or consulting experience in Northern Colorado and surrounding areas are especially encouraged to apply.

    The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced engineer who is tired of the corporate mindset and wants to return to a “people-focused” way of doing business.     The Northern Colorado Senior Engineer will be expected to join our Loveland Office team and work alongside junior and mid-level staff in the three Colorado offices. They will be under the Northern Colorado Water Resource Practice Lead and coordinate with Water Resources Practice Leads in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Salt Lake City and cross-discipline to help mentor staff, deliver projects, win work, and optimize processes.

    Essential Job Functions

    Project Management

    · Manage design, permitting, and construction services for the assigned project efficiently and responsibly.

    · Deliver projects on time, on budget, and within the agreed schedule.

    · Participate in adopting and improving design standards to improve or enhance our practice.

    · Manage project delivery from start to finish, without oversight, to meet project quality, schedule, and cost commitments.

    · Estimate additional work fee/scope and alert management of issues.

    · Understand the inclusion and exclusion of the scope of services for different project types.

    · Will be required to maintain positive client relationships regularly.

    · Be sensitive to client’s needs and prioritize information that the client needs.

    · Delegate work as needed to junior and mid-level staff as appropriate.

    · Mentor other staff in technical and project management skills

    Design

    · Complete site designs, perform hydraulics and hydrology calculations, and design stormwater infrastructure, grading, erosion control, & drainage plans.

    · Prepare drainage and erosion control plans based on project scope.

    · Prepare appropriate drainage criteria and similar manuals for clients and review existing criteria based on project needs.

    · Ensure appropriate methodology is followed on projects you are managing.

    Quality Control

    · Ensure that quality control procedures are implemented and followed.

    Client Relations

    · Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and government agencies and meet their expectations.

    · Attend progress meetings for projects.

    · Embody our culture of “Higher Relationships” with external clients.

    · Existing relationships with clients in Colorado Springs and the surrounding area are preferred.

    Staff Management

    · Direct drafters and assist engineers working on your projects.

    · Motivate staff working on your projects.

    · Maintain a good rapport with all levels of staff members.

    · Demonstrate leadership abilities with the project team.

    · Manage the production staff working on your projects to communicate effectively to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

    · Manage junior staff to see that designs and plans are appropriately compiled, on time, and in a quality fashion.

    · Manage assigned workload and schedule effectively with given resources. Communicate staffing needs with upper management to minimize downtime and overloaded staff.

    · Communicate with upper management in advance when the schedule or scope changes.

    · Actively participate and adhere to our safety program and ensure that all team members are as well.

    Required Skills

    · Effective communication skills - both verbal and written.

    · Broad understanding of engineering principles required

    · Experience developing and delivering drainage and erosion control drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications for private and/or public clients.

    · Skilled in project management and managing technical professionals and demonstrated ability to lead and direct multiple concurrent projects.

    Required Experience

    · Candidate must have a BS or an MS in Civil Engineering or a related field

    · 10+ years of experience in water resources, including stormwater drainage

    · Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain within six months.

    · Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, experience with MicroStation OpenRoads is desirable

    · Experience with drainage-related software programs such as HEC-RAS, PC-SWMM, SRH2D, InfoWorks ICM, HY-8, and others.

    · Experience and proficiency in performing drainage analysis, drainage planning, and drainage facility design

    · Experience with project management

    · Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills

    · Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills

    · Excellent work ethic and a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles

    · Have a collaborative mindset and capable of working with staff from various backgrounds and experiences.

    Annual Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00
