    MAJOR FUNCTION

    The successful candidate for the position of Product Marketing Associate will assist in the day-to-day management of assigned product line(s), with particular emphasis on the development of highly effective sales tools and marketing materials.  The primary purpose of this role is to assist with the development and execution of key elements of the multi-generational product plan, in order to accomplish relevant product line, departmental, and divisional objectives.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide thorough analysis of market, customer, and competitive data to support multi-generational product planning.
    • Assist in coordination/leadership of product development projects, and participate in team meetings as assigned.
    • Assist in market research projects.
    • Assist in development and execution of product launch plans.
    • Help to generate timely and accurate product information for delivery to channel partners.
    • Contribute to the global Sales Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
    • Assist in marketing communications material development and execution, including content for sales training tools, marketing collateral materials, product videos, web sites, and product training events.
    • Research competitive products, and develop competitive product comparisons for use in training the Toro and distributor sales teams.
    • Assist in analyzing retail sales, distributor order activity, and field inventory position for assigned product categories.
    • Help to prepare for and execute customer experience events.
    • Support the maintenance of product pricing and configuration tools.
    • Follow up on customer issues and questions. Work with the Engineering and Customer Care teams to investigate and resolve field and warranty issues.
    • Complete other special assignments, duties, and tasks as required.

     

    JOB DIMENSIONS

    • Assists in the management of commercial product portfolio.
    • Contributes to multi-generational product plans.
    • Works closely with marketing directors, product marketing managers, regional marketing managers, training team, and marketing communications team.
    • Builds strong cross-functional working relationships with Engineering, Sales, Customer Care, and other internal departments.
    • Serves as an advocate for the customer.
    • Travel Requirement: 10-15%, potentially including some international travel.

     

    SPECIFICATIONS

    This position is a developmental position, geared toward potentially becoming a product marketing manager within the Commercial organization.  A strong interest and desire to one day become a product marketing manager is required.

     

    • Work requires the level of educational development normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.
    • Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 0-2 years relevant experience.
    • Demands organizational and time management skills to multitask and effectively support multiple projects.
    • Must have solid analytical skills and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
    • Customer service and people skills are critical.
    • Engineering or technical background is desirable.
