Environmental Professional – NEPA Project Manager and Biologist
Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, a national multi-disciplined engineering and architecture consulting firm, is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Professional – NEPA Project Manager and Biologist to join our team in either our Omaha, NE or Kansas City, MO offices. This individual will work with a team of environmental professionals from across the company to conduct environmental analyses and deliver quality documents supporting our federal, state, local and tribal clients under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other applicable federal and state regulations for environmental resource management.
This position is responsible for managing environmental and NEPA projects through all phases, from initial marketing and scope of work/fee development through approval of final deliverables. Specific tasks include marketing and business development, client coordination, management of schedules and budgets, coordination and oversight of project teams (task leads, resource specialists, subconsultants, etc.), and collaboration with engineering staff in a variety of industry disciplines including transportation, municipal, and railroad. Project Managers will also be responsible as principal author of NEPA documentation including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), Categorical Exclusions (CE), and Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) to support project approvals for a variety of federal, state, local and tribal clients. Strong writing skills are required.
In addition, Project Managers will have technical expertise in one or more environmental resource discipline and the ideal candidate for this position will have a background in biological resources. Biologists are responsible for completing fieldwork, evaluating potential environmental impacts and mitigation requirements, and writing technical reports for biological resources on a variety of transportation, railroad, land development, and stormwater/wastewater projects. Biological resources include, but are not limited to, wetland delineation and mitigation, threatened and endangered species, wildlife, vegetation, noxious weeds, and environmental permitting.
Project Managers may supervise staff within the Environmental Program. This is completely dependent on the needs of the program over time and, therefore, management or supervisory experience and strong communication skills are desired. All Wilson & Company environmental staff will work collaboratively with engineering professionals in a variety of disciplines across the firm to meet project goals, and other key staff to build relationships both locally and in all states where Wilson & Company is conducting environmental project work.

Project Management
Provide project management, NEPA document, and technical resource duties as detailed in Job Description above.
Serve as project manager for environmental/NEPA projects firmwide; coordinate with and support task leads for overall project performance and deliver projects to clients on schedule and on budget.
Collaborate on the preparation of environmental documentation, including resource-specific technical reports, CEs, EAs, and EISs.
Support the national environmental program through marketing, proposal preparation, and environmental analysis and documentation.
Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with engineering professionals in a variety of disciplines across Wilson & Company to meet project goals, and other key staff to build client relationships in states where Wilson & Company is conducting environmental project work.
