  • Responsibilities

    Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a Hydraulics and Hydrology Engineer with 4-8 years of experience to support our Railroad Division in our Kansas City, MO office. As part of our team, you will perform analysis and design as a Project Engineer on difficult to complex water resource related projects for our rail clients and support the work of other divisions within the firm as requested.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide project engineering and task management on water resources design projects
    • Supervise and delegate work to junior engineers and support staff as necessary to manage specific hydraulic engineering tasks within larger complex projects
    • Conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design
    • Perform floodplain, inundation, and hydrologic studies
    • Perform sediment transport and scour analyses to support water resources projects
    • Assist in water resources permitting efforts
    • Collect, evaluate, and present data in technical reports and oral presentations
    • Assist in the preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures
    • Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams of geomorphologists, biologists, planners, emergency managers, and additional hydraulic and water resources engineers
    • Contribute to business development, marketing, and proposal preparation efforts

    Required Skills

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience with HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GEO-RAS, storm drain system analysis
    • Strong background in surface water hydraulics and hydrology as well as applying this technical knowledge to address client needs, meet deliverables, and train junior staff;
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3d and/or Microstation
    • Team-oriented individual who is eager to lead and manage projects

    Required Experience

    • Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering
    • Master’s degree in with an emphasis in Water Resources (or related) is preferred
    • 4-8 years of increasingly-responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water resource related projects
    • Missouri Professional Engineer License, or ability to obtain within 6 months
