Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers and Architects, is currently seeking a Traffic Safety Engineer for any of our offices. This person will be part of our national transportation planning and traffic engineering team, primarily serving state and local agency clients. This position will lead and assist with a variety of transportation safety projects to perform evaluations in traffic safety, RSAs, predictive safety evaluations and report development/documentation.

Job Duties Include:

• Develop technical traffic safety analysis for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities utilizing multiple software and programs as necessary.
  • Perform technical traffic analysis to identify traffic safety related deficiencies for all modes.
  • Evaluate alternatives and document measures of effectiveness to recommend proposed improvements.
  • Develop traffic safety improvement recommendations for client consideration.
  • Develop Safety Action Plans for client consideration.
  • Produce traffic reports in multiple forms to document all analysis.
• Marketing and Business Development – Lead the development of proposals to secure new business for traffic related work and as part of multi-discipline projects.

Required Skills

Working level experience with traffic safety engineering tools and resources such as: Highway Safety Manual, MUTCD, IHSDM and ISATE.

The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and analytical skills, an understanding of the planning and project development process, be willing to travel occasionally to assist other offices. This position will mentor junior-level traffic engineering staff. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and:

• Knowledge and experience with traffic operations
• Knowledge and experience with traffic safety analysis, conducting RSAs and HSM traffic safety analysis

Required Experience

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field
• Registration as a Professional Engineer More than 10-years of experience
• Working knowledge of HSM / MUTCD / IHSDM / ISATE
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, primarily Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with intersection, corridor and area/regional safety evaluations and developing recommended countermeasures/documentation.
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certified
• Registered Safety Professional (RSP1) certified
