    A career-minded Water/Wastewater engineer, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT’s fast growing Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice. Employee will plan and lead engineering tasks and projects in the water/wastewater field through working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards and processes; manage multiple design projects, manage preparation and updating of project schedules; develop, analyze and document critical design elements; coordinate the efforts of a design team to determine requirements and incorporate feedback. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting water transmission/distribution, sewershed study and rehabilitation, wastewater treatment, and pump station projects. Employee is expected to provide quality engineering evaluation and design services efficiently to support the project team’s objective and provide customer satisfaction on all projects.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design responsibilities and project management.
    • Work closely with a design team to develop construction plans and specifications for various design projects
    • Some business development activities such as proposal writing and project interviews.
    • Developing scopes of work, developing conceptual designs and preliminary engineering studies, conceiving and implementing field investigation programs, sub-contractor management, as well as coordination of design disciplines in final design projects.
    • Construction phase engineering services.
    • Coordination with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and firm staff.
    • Flexibility to support time-critical report development and production to meet demanding schedules.

    Required Skills

    • Must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment, build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions
    • Must demonstrate familiarity with hydraulic designs, sewer rehabilitation, water and wastewater treatment process design, engineering economics, preparation of specifications and engineering report writing
    • Must demonstrate organized practices, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have flexibility to support time-critical report development and production in order to meet demanding schedules
    • Should have a firm grasp of general heavy construction principles; environmental facilities operations-related experience is considered a plus
    • Should demonstrate strong team-building skills, and ideally experience operating in a regional-office environment
    • Should be able to present technical writing product to internal team and client
    • Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project

    Required Experience

    • 5-10 years experience
    • A bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
    • Possess a Professional Engineering License in the state of Colorado or have the ability to acquire a license through reciprocity within six months of employment
    • A working knowledge of Federal, State and local jurisdiction permitting regulations

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 85% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
