  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    Develops plans and specifications, performs analysis, and provides reports on assigned tasks involving design and construction of new facilities or operation and maintenance of existing facilities. Technically involved in the resolution of equipment and operational problems which may include coordinating with other internal groups at OG&E or contractors to determine ideal way to address these problems. Provide guidance for performing field investigation or inspections, performing design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.

    Primary Duties:

    • Analyze distribution circuits to ensure proper fuse coordination exists.
    • Review both system and customer specific issues and provide guidance on how best to resolve.
    • Analyze distribution fault events to determine fault type and evaluate if protective equipment operated accordingly – if it did not –
    • Provide corrective action plan to ensure proper operation of protective equipment for similar future events.
    • Develop DA (Distribution Automation) schemes for both circuit reconfiguration and remedial purposes.
    • Review DA equipment placement studies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Develop DA equipment settings
    • Coordinate with and provide support for field technicians during testing and commissioning of DA equipment settings.
    • Research and evaluate new DA equipment technology.
    • Coordinates the activities of the design and construction teams.
    • Ensures construction documentation and manifest process has completed in accordance with standards.
    • Manages budgets, schedules, and resources for small to medium sized projects.
    • Reviews and critiques proposed changes to engineering standards, policies and guidelines.
    • Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
    • Conducts surveys to gather field data.
    • Prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
    • Prepares engineering analysis for small/routine projects to include: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.
    • Assists upper level engineers as directed while developing specialized engineering skills.
    • Supports company safety programs and initiatives by following all EHS and Operating procedures and adhering to established design standards.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or PE.
    • Two (2) years directly related experience as an Engineer.
    • Valid State Drivers license.

    Preferred Qualifications:  

    • Work experience in Distribution Engineering and Technical Services
    • Experience with the following applications
      • CYME
      • ArcFM
      • Microsoft Power BI
    • Ability to read and understand event reports.
    • Basic understanding of circuit reconfiguration and how it can affect equipment loading and protective device coordination.
    • Ability to perform fault calculations
    • Basic understanding of symmetrical components and how to develop sequence diagrams.
    • Knowledge of various DA devices and their role in improving circuit reliability.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to work within stringent deadlines.
    • Able to work independently of direct supervision
    • Able to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities
    • Proficient in basic engineering tools with ability to create simulations, build models and develop analytical calculations.
    • Well developed verbal and written communication skills.
    • Interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with diverse personalities.

    • Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.

    Working Conditions:

    • May require travel.
    • May be required to work non-standard hours, holidays, and schedules.
    • May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
    • May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
    • May be required to work non-standard work schedules.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION: 

    • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with Advanced Practice Nurse Master’s Degree OR
    • Graduated from an accredited Professional Physician Assistant Program
    • Active Physician Assistant state license or Nurse Practitioner state license 
    • Active DEA license from state of practice if applicable
    • Board Certified (NP must be FNP certified for six (6) months to adult)
    • BLS Certification
    • Medical Examiners Certification for DOT physicals (ME certification may be acquired within the first 30 days of employment)

    ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be aware of hazardous situations and be able to provide a leadership role in emergencies as needed.
