Job Description
We are looking for individuals to fill this position for several construction companies located in the Inland Empire. This is a key position in the organization and will work closely with ownership and management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Establishment of appropriate policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
· Supervision of accounting department staff including hiring, mentoring, and evaluation.
· Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
· Monthly financial reporting to management/owner within 7-10 days.
· Ensure timely reconciliation of cash, contracts receivable, accounts payable, and other accounts.
· Completion of percentage of completion revenue schedules including work in progress and reconciliation to general ledger.
· Prepare documentation for periodic external reporting and interface with the Company’s CPAs.
· Responsible for the preparation of annual budgets, monitoring of actual results to budget, and updating, as necessary.
· Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
· Be the Company’s primary contact with regulatory agencies, unions, financial institutions, etc.
· Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business curriculum
· 5+ years recent experience in construction industry
· Working understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounts Principals
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills
· Versed in the application of percentage of completion revenue recognition including over/under billing calculations.
· Proficiency with Construction software – Accubuild, Toolbox, etc.
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and formulas.
· Must be a “hands-on” individual, with the ability to interface on the shop floor, along with ownership and others – all equally well.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Experience with union or prevailing wage contracts
· Experience with certified payroll
