    Windowworks is looking to hire an Operations Manager who will lead an organization of over 30 employees. This is a newly created role. The successful candidate shall have the intent to use this role as a stepping stone and training ground for the future leadership of Windowworks, within the next 2 - 3 years. As such, the Operations Manager will spend their first few months learning from, and contributing with, the founders of Windowworks such that they can transition towards eventual retirement. The position covers a diverse range of responsibilities aimed specifically to mould the individual to run the business as a General Manager or President in the future.

    To be successful in this role, conflict resolution, strong customer service, a strong understanding of operations and workflow processes and problem solving is key. Other skills such as the capacity to learn the workroom and the manufacturing of window coverings, bedding, and upholstery are necessary. The first phase of your transition to Windowworks will be to deepen your knowledge of these processes under the direct guidance of the founders. Industry knowledge of design, draperies and upholstery is not necessary but will be considered an asset.

    The key responsibilities of Operations Manager include:

    • Guiding and leading the team to work to their full potential;
    • Continued focus on best-in-class customer service;
    • Delivering high quality products to our customer base;
    • Ensuring on-time and on-spec delivery of products.

    Profitability and Loss Ownership:

    • Focused profitable growth through increased revenue and cost optimization;
    • Reporting weekly on financial performance;
    • Working with leadership team on budgeting and forecasting, P&L;
    • Leading initiatives to improve workforce and inventory efficiencies.

    Quoting and invoicing projects, including:

    • Window coverings, bedding, and upholstery;
    • Large projects and take-offs;
    • Assisting customers and designers with projects;
    • Calculating final prices for invoicing;
    • Approving discounts;
    • Site visits to review large projects, including meeting with contractors, architects, and designers;
    • Introduction of quoting software to improve efficiencies around quoting and work order creation.

    Production control, including, but not limited to:

    • Supervising seamstresses and upholsterers;
    • Workroom and skills management;
    • Writing work orders and ordering materials;
    • Reviewing work orders for accuracy and detail.

    Sales Management:

    • Develop and maintain customer relationships;
    • Lead weekly sales meeting;
    • Conduct lunch-and-learns with design firms and architects;
    • Networking and reaching out to potential industry partners;
    • Marketing for designers and film industry;
    • Sales and marketing strategy, including SEO, digital advertising, print advertising, and other marketing activities;
    • Working with customers to ensure the best quality and service;
    • Ability to work with customers on any complaints and feedback to improve the quality of work and process.

    Other:

    • Windowworks is a team environment, and all team members are expected to pitch in on all tasks when required;
    • On an as-needed basis, Human Resources aspects may be required.

    This is a full-time, competitive salaried position with benefits. Your incentive will be based on overall company performance based on profit sharing of the EBITDA.

    Dependent on the strong performance of the operations manager and his/her team, a promotion to the general manager or president role will be offered as the founders of Windowworks transition to retirement over the next 2-3 years. With this, a higher base compensation, and an opportunity to buy into the ownership of the company, will be awarded.
