Job Description
Connecticut Office of Winget, Spadafora & Schwartzberg has an immediate need for a paralegal with at least three years of experience. This position requires an experienced, well-organized and independent paralegal to provide support to the attorneys at a growing insurance defense firm.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing Indexes, Table of Contents, Table of Authorities, P&L analyses and historical comparisons in Excel.
- Conducting case research via Internet, Pacer and LexisNexis, as well as FINRA arbitrator research.
- Managing large case files including discovery documents, pleadings, motions, reports and correspondence files.
- E-filing with State and Federal courts.
- Preparing documents for discovery in paper and electronic formats in response to opposing counsel requests.
- Drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Maintaining case calendar, subpoena database and collections spreadsheet.
- Working with vendors for electronic litigation support.
- Identifying and organizing exhibits.
Qualifications:
- COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT, with exceptions to Medical or Religious Exemptions. One of the essential functions of this position is the ability to work on-site within our New York City office. - Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a paralegal in a mid-sized to large law firm, preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and to manage time effectively.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent proofreading skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
- Ability to perform electronic research using LexisNexis and Pacer.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
