JOB DESCRIPTION:

SEEKING A PAYROLL MANAGER TO OVERSEE OUR PAYROLL DEPARTMENT AND HANDLE ALL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH TIMEKEEPING, EXPENSE PROCESSING AND PAYROLL. AS A PAYROLL MANAGER, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING AND UPDATING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES, IMPLEMENTING AN EFFICIENT WORKFLOW FOR EMPLOYEE PAYMENT PROCESSING AND MANAGING ALL PAYROLL FUNCTIONS.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Directing and managing payroll procedures
• Preparing payroll
•  Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and tax obligations
• Identifying payroll liabilities by calculating federal and state income taxes,       social security taxes,     unemployment payments and workers compensation payments
•   Supervising the payroll team and providing training and guidance as needed
•    Processing and distributing employee payments by issuing checks, direct   transfers or other payment methods
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll      transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
•    Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates
•   Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
•   Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

REQUIREMENTS:

•   5+ Years of payroll management experience
•    Multi state payroll experience
•    Knowledge of IRS rules
•    Intermediate – advance level of Excel experience

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

CERTIFIED PAYROLL PROFESSIONAL (CPP)

The American Payroll Association (APA) offers CPP certification that demonstrates the individual’s knowledge of payroll concepts, compliance, paycheck calculation, payroll systems, audits, accounting and payroll management. Applicants must have a combination of professional experience and education to qualify to take the CPP exam.

CERTIFIED PAYROLL SPECIALIST (CPS)

The CPS designation is accredited by the National Association of Certified Payroll Specialists (NACPS) and demonstrates a candidate’s knowledge of QuickBooks, payroll and accounting. To earn the CPS license, an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or completion of an approved education alternative is required. They must also have 2,000 hours of bookkeeping, accounting or payroll experience, agree to abide by the professional code of conduct and pass a three-part exam. To maintain certification, they complete 16 hours of continuing professional education annually.
