    Salary (Grade): $12.05 (G7-E) Status: Reg., Full Time (Non-Exempt)

    Location: Alcohol Program Halfway House located in Winnebago, Ne. 68071

    Job Purpose & Position Overview

    The Chee-Woy-Na-Zhee Halfway House Tech’s primary duties are to provide a supportive atmosphere reinforcing abstinence and enforcing rules that sustain an alcohol/substance abuse-free life style. This position will be supportive in implementing the nutrition and dietetic elements, building maintenance, janitorial and ground maintenance of the program.

    Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.

    Must become knowledgeable of the AIHRC program organization, philosophy, functions, policies and procedures, mandated by State, Federal Regulations.

    Assist resident’s adherence of Halfway House rules and regulations as it pertains to the Halfway House confinements.

    Provide a daily written record of client consultations, client incidents and submit such reports to the Advisor/Counselor/Manager on a daily basis.

    Will notify Halfway House Counselor/Advisor/Manager when crisis situation occurs.

    Will conduct the nutritional assessment of each client upon admission and prior to release from Chee-Woy-Na-Zhee Halfway House.

    Will meet with the area Dietician/Nutritionist, to develop menus for specialized dietary needs of individuals; diabetes, food allergies, etc.

    Will be responsible for planning menus in accordance with the current recommended dietary allowance standards as published by the National Research Council.

    Responsible for maintaining food safety, sanitation, receiving, storing/handling and preserving food items.

    Responsible for generating grocery list from menus and utilizing cost efficiency techniques to purchase food supplies.

    Will store food and kitchen items according to the State of Nebraska Health Standards & Regulations and IHS FDA requirements.

    May prepare meals and/or assist residents in learning basic cooking skills.

    Report all information vital to the upkeep of the food services program to the Halfway House Counselor/Advisor/Manager, including equipment failure or needed repairs to food services area.

    Responsible for weekly deep cleaning of entire house; sanitation of stove, refrigerator, cooking utensil storage areas, kitchen cabinets, restrooms, etc.

    Routinely check Alcohol Program buildings, storage units and grounds to secure and protect property and residents from danger of intrusion, accidents, and fire hazards.

    Provide routine inspections of resident’s quarters and resident’s assigned daily house duties.

    Provide emergency maintenance, routine maintenance repairs as needed and report equipment failure and building repairs that occur during their shift.

    Has primary responsibility for the building maintenance, janitorial services and ground maintenance of the Halfway House and AIHRC buildings.

    Assign house details to Halfway House residents.

    May chaperone and transport residents to outside AA meetings. Gatherings. And recreational activities.

    May transport residents to shopping, court, employment and medical appointments when necessary.

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

    Minimum of one (1) year of experience in related work experience.

    Have a minimum of one (1) year sobriety and abstain from alcohol/drugs while employed in this position.

    Must be knowledgeable of the disease concept of substance abuse and possess a thorough understanding of substance as it pertains to Native Americans.

    Must be in excellent physical and mental health and have the ability of lifting 50 lbs. and able to a climb a flight of stairs. Must pass a physical within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

    Must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative and have the ability to delegate and motivate.

    Must maintain the strictest confidentiality laws and regulations regarding clients and program records.

    Must be willing to work an irregular work schedule when requested.

    Must possess or be able to obtain within 60 days food handling and sanitation training, First Aid and CPR certification.

    Have a Valid Driver’s license, be insurable and have access to personal transportation.

    Ability to express written ideas, opinions or facts with clarity.

    Have the ability to use time constructively.

    Must be a team-player and have a positive attitude.

    Must pass a Federal Background check.

    Education Preference:

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    N/A

    Training Requirements:

    Must attend all training courses and department meetings as required by Halfway House Counselor/Advisor/Manager.

    Physical Requirements:

    Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.

    Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.

    While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

    Mental Requirements:

    Reading, writing, calculating

    Above average social interaction skills

    Reasoning/Analysis

    Works with minimal to no supervision

    Language Requirements:

    Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

    Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

    Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

    All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
