    Salary (Grade): $10.30/hour Status: Reg., Part-Time (Non-Exempt) Location:Located at Educare Early Childhood Learning Center in Winnebago, Nebraska

    Job Purpose & Position Overview

    The Dishwasher/Cooks Aide II will assist the Cook/Nutritionist in of two (2) meals a day and one (1) snack; will run the dishwasher and properly dispose of refuse in a safe, sanitary manner; general cleaning and sanitizing of work area.

    Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.

    Must have good personal cleanliness habits.

    Must be punctual and dependable.

    Must assist in meal preparations and clean up.

    Will learn proper sanitizing and dishwashing techniques.

    Will learn proper storage techniques of food and utensil.

    Will assist and share responsibilities for cleanliness and sanitation of all areas.

    Will assist all staff in setting tables

    Will assist all staff in nutrition experiences.

    May be asked to share mealtime with children.

    Make volunteers feel welcome.

    Will follow Head Start chain of command and the chain of command of the Tribal Organization.

    Understands and adheres to the policies and procedures of the Winnebago Native American Head Start Program and the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

    Will present a professional image in the food preparation areas at all times, including a positive image for Head Start in the community.

    Handles confidential information with discretion concerning all children, families and Head Start related activities.

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

    Experience in menu planning and food preparation a plus.

    Good staff/children relation skills are required. Must be able to work with a variety of personalities. This will require an individual to be able to deal with parents, children and others, tribal employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity, and maturity.

    Must be in good physical health, free from communicable diseases, will be required to take a physical examination and tuberculin test annually.

    Must be able to go up and down stairways, pushing carts, handling foods and moderate lifting.

    Must be willing to work in potentially hazardous conditions, such as hot cooking surfaces, wet floors, electrical equipment and hot foods.

    Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days and keep valid.

    Attend training as request or required.

    Must be in good physical and mental health and be of good moral character.

    Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with fellow employees under conditions that can become stressful due to heavy student enrollment.

    Education Preference:

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

    Training Requirements:

    Will attend department meetings and other training courses as directed

    Physical Requirements:

    Normal to medium kitchen work which includes the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

    Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate various kitchen utensils and equipment

    While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

    Mental Requirements:

    Reading, writing, calculating

    Above average social interaction skills

    Reasoning/Analysis

    Works with minimal to no supervision

    Language Requirements:

    Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

    Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

    Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

    All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
