    Salary (Grade): $16.97 (G12-E)

    Status: Reg., Full-Time (Non-Exempt)

    Location: Social Services Office Winnebago, NE 68071 & Social Services Office Sioux City, IA 51101

    Job Purpose & Position Overview

    Under the general supervision of the Social Services Program Manager, greets agency customers and clients, and the public on a regular basis. Provides direct customer or client service assistance by assisting in the provision of services to children and families participating in the program. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, data entry, transporting clients to various appointments, providing homemaker services to clients in their home, assist caseworker in planning and service implementation, and assist clients in applying for various benefits, such as State assistance and Medicaid. This position requires availability to do transports for clients after hours. This position will also include managing tribal funded programs, such as emergency assistance and senior heating.

    Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe's core mission, vision and values

    • Calculates and verifies payments, charges, and refunds for assistance, fees, fines, or other agency services rendered

    • Uses various records management systems and the TAS database system to code, enter and update information, to research information and to identify status of services rendered or transactions processed

    • Schedules appointments, group session, and other meetings between customers, clients, program staff and other services providers

    • Coordinate services and arrange meetings between customers, clients, and agency staff, which may involve working with distraught or irate individuals

    • Administer random urinalysis to active clients and assist with client transportation

    • Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of client programming for job preparation and self-sufficiency

    • Conducting home visits, if needed.

    • Assist Caseworkers in identifying the strengths and needs of the family, identify problems and the capacity for improvement and review and revise progress of case plans based on personal observations and data collection;

    • Assist parents in family crisis with childcare resources and home management

    • Transport families and children to medical, counseling, therapeutic and/or psychological appointments, and services rendered for supportive/preventive services.

    • Advise clients regarding food stamps, child care, food, money management, sanitation, and housekeeping.

    • Assist Caseworker in interviewing individuals and family members to compile information on social, educational, criminal, institutional, or drug history.

    • Provide intake services to assist clients with preparation of forms, such as application forms for review by Caseworker, support service forms, or other forms from outside agencies.

    • Assist in locating housing for displaced individuals, planning of food budget, utilizing charts and sample budgets. This can be completed in an individual or a group setting.

    • Prepare written and verbal reports for casework staff noting the clients' progress and ability to make improvements as outlined in visitation and service agreements.

    • This position will be responsible for coordinating cultural activities for children and adults.

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

    • High School Diploma or GED is required plus one year of college accredited course work and one year of experience providing services to the public is required. Associate's degree is preferred.

    • Must be willing and able to engage in employee training and development of an educational plan

    • One-year experience working with Native Americans is required

    • Must be able to work after normal work hours.

    • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

    • Must be timely, dependable, courteous, and maintain a business-like appearance

    • Ability to interact and build rapport with peers and clients, to remain non-judgmental and value and accept differences in people, and to observe, assess and address behavior is required

    • Must possess keyboarding skills for data entry and be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook)

    • Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality, and will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement

    • Knowledge of Confidentiality Laws and Regulations is highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required

    • Knowledge of Winnebago culture and traditions is highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required

    • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain valid insurance, and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy

    • Ability to pass background check and drug screen

    Training Requirements:

    · Must engage in an employee development plan.

    Physical Requirements:

    · Normal to Medium office work which includes the ability to lift from 11-300 lbs.

    · Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.

    · While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

    Mental Requirements:

    · Reading, writing, calculating

    · Above average social interaction skills

    · Reasoning/Analysis

    · Works with minimal to no supervision

    Language Requirements:

    · Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

    · Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
