    Location: Winnebago Public School, Winnebago, NE 68071

    Job Purpose & Position Overview

    The Cooks Helper will serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendly.

    This position is for up to 20 hours per week, working either a 4 day 5-hour schedule or a 5 day 4-hour schedule, as detailed below.

    Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    Helps prepare lunch items and helps prep for satellite delivery.

    Helps co-workers with preparation of afterschool snack items when needed or called upon.

    Helps with clean-up of serving line and cafeteria after lunch.

    Helps with clean-up of serving line pots and pans.

    Maintains work area & program’s equipment in a clean and sanitized order.

    Attends monthly safety training and any other training sessions that pertains to job responsibilities.

    Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

    Applicant must be an enrolled Winnebago tribal member and live within the reservation boundaries

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    Must be at least 55 years of age.

    Must be willing to submit a background check as mandated by the Tribal Policies and Procedures of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.

    Must be drug and alcohol free.

    Must have valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proper insurance or access to dependable transportation.

    Must be physically able bodied (able to lift 30-50 lbs.)

    Must have good moral habits.

    Must be able to maintain a pleasant relationship with all students and staff

    Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in all required work areas with food, sanitation and safety.

    Must have an annual physical prior to beginning of School term.

    Must be familiar with all HACCP requirements, following all Facility-wide SOP’s and SSOP’s.

    Education Preference:

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    N/A

    Training Requirements:

    Attends monthly safety training and any other training sessions that pertains to job responsibilities.

    Must be familiar with all HACCP requirements, following all Facility-wide SOP’s and SSOP’s.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be physically able bodied (able to lift 30-50 lbs)

    Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate various kitchen appliances.

    While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

    Job Schedule:

    4 hours a day, on school days, or 20 hours a week. 10:00am to 2:00pm

    10:00-10:45 Help with Lunch preparations with the Cooks

    10:45-1:00 Help with lunch pots/pans or help with snack prep, whichever is of most demand

    1:00-2:00 Help with cleaning cafeteria or serving line, whichever is of most demand

    This is a tentative schedule and may have to be adjusted according to the menu production

    Alternative Schedule: 5 hours a day, 4 days a week, on school days or 20 hours a week.

    9:00-9:30 help set up breakfast and deliver for delayed.

    9:30-11:00 help with FFVP deliver and cut up, or tray up breakfast for next day

    11:00-2:00 Help with clean-up of lunch where needed.

    Mental Requirements:

    Reading, writing, calculating

    Above average social interaction skills

    Reasoning/Analysis

    Works with minimal to no supervision

    Language Requirements:

    Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

    Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.

    Certificates, Licenses & registrations:

    All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
