Office Manager
Winton Cemetery District is looking to immediately fill the position of Office Manager.
Position Description
The Office Manager will be responsible for the planning and implementation of strategic decisions for both short-term and long-term goals of managing the care of the Winton Cemetery District. The Office Manager will oversee all aspects of the daily operations and management strategies of the Winton Cemetery District and will work with the Cemetery District Board of Trustees towards the long-term improvement of the cemetery. The Office Manager will collaborate with the Board of Trustees to create long term financial goals and forecasts. In addition, this position will be leading the following areas: operations, finance, business planning, sales, administration, and IT.
The Office Manager plays a critical role in partnering with the Board of Trustees in strategic decision making and operations of the cemetery while continuing to enhance its quality programming and to build to capacity. The Office Manager reports directly to the Board of Trustees which is made up of 5 board members.
The Winton Cemetery District operates one cemetery in Winton California that serves a population of approximately 50,000 residents within the District. The District provides approximately 200 burials a year and is the second largest public cemetery in Merced County. The District currently has 27 acres of developed land and 15 acres of undeveloped land. The District sells the rights for full-body burials and cremation interments and offers a range of internment services and products
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of college or equivalent work experience in an office environment
Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Accounting and budgeting practices and techniques
Interpersonal skills including tact, courtesy and diplomacy
Preparing, reviewing and analyzing financial and statistical data
Preparing and controlling budgets
Plan, organize, coordinate and manage office operations and activities at a public cemetery
Position involves periods of sitting, standing and/or walking, including walking of cemetery grounds
Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds
Ability to work 8am-5pm Monday through Friday
Must reach above shoulder for 2 drawers or crouch to reach lower drawers
Responsibilities
To plan, organize, coordinate and manage the office activities
Counsels families and cemetery patrons making pre-need and at-need burial arrangements
Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff
Prepares, reconciles, balances and reviews a variety of financial and statistical records and reports for submission to central accounting
Assures compliance with legal and safety requirements, departmental policies and state laws and directives related to cemetery operations
Prepares and monitors the annual cemetery budget and controls expenditures in accordance with state laws and established board policies
Provides specialized information to personnel, patrons and others regarding cemetery rules, regulations and procedures
Resolves operational problems, patron complaints and employee disputes
Performs related duties as required
Prepares board agendas
Attends board meeting, takes board minutes, and other related board meeting tasks

Pay: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour (based on qualifications)
