Job Description
A Safety Intern typically assists a company's safety department or safety manager in various tasks related to ensuring a safe and secure working environment for employees. The specific responsibilities and job description of a Safety Intern can vary depending on the organization and industry.
This is a paid 40 hours per week internship beginning mid-May 2023 to Mid-August 2023. Candidates will also receive a monthly housing stipend.

** Duties & Responsibilities**
- Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and safety violations.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in collecting and analyzing safety-related data, such as incident reports, near-miss incidents, and safety performance metrics.
- Safety Training: Assist in organizing and delivering safety training programs to employees, including new hire orientations and refresher courses.
- Safety Policies and Procedures: Assist in the development and updating of safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Emergency Response Planning: Help in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
- Safety Equipment and PPE: Ensure that employees have access to and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment. Assist in maintaining and inspecting safety equipment.
- Incident Investigation: Assist in investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Analyze the root causes and contribute to developing corrective action plans to prevent future incidents.
- Safety Communication: Help in the development and distribution of safety communications, including posters, newsletters, and email announcements to raise awareness of safety issues.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety activities, incidents, and training.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and standards to ensure the organization's compliance with all applicable laws.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Encourage and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization, including participating in safety committees or meetings.
- Safety Reporting: Assist in the preparation of safety reports and presentations for management and regulatory agencies.
- Safety Audits: Support safety audits and assessments of the workplace to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as HR, facilities, and operations, to ensure a holistic approach to safety.
