    Job Description

    The Human Resources (HR) and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the daily activities of the administrative, human resources and safety functions at the Rosenberg, TX manufacturing plant, including coordinating with WireCo’s corporate HR team regarding talent acquisition, reward programs, administration of leaves, along with interpreting and administering company policies and practices. The role minimizes the risk of job-related accidents by working in partnership with the regional and corporate safety management teams, and assists in driving a Best in Class HSE Management System, along with safety compliance tasks such as recordkeeping, compliance, and sustaining the company’s safety rating. The role also provides HSE oversight for the Houston Distribution Center.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    HUMAN RESOURCES

    • Culture / employee engagement
    • Plan, manage and coordinate key human resources initiatives including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance manager, time-off management, training, employee relations and record-keeping for the Rosenberg plant.
    • Serve as point of contact for plant employees on HR related matters, including but not limited to the administration of HR policies, benefits, processes, payroll, employee handbook, guidelines, and resources, and refers to HR Leadership as necessary.
    • Process hourly payroll through payroll/timekeeping system for the plant as well as the accurate and timely processing of time off requests, job changes, separations, hires and organization changes in HRIS system while maintaining documentation for audit purposes.
    • Support leadership team on the execution of administrative, disciplinary and pay actions.
    • Assist with coordinating and executing special events and recognition activities.

    SAFETY

    • Assist in reporting/entering data and KPI’s into WireCo’s HSE Management System (Observations, Near Misses, Inspections/audits and Incidents)
    • Provide HSE training in compliance with the Regional HSE guidance/calendar (Also help with training of DC)
    • Lead and participate in local Safety Committee
    • Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements (OSHA, EPA, DNR, TCEQ)
    • Implement and sustain Standards and Programs related to OPEX

    ADMINISTRATIVE

    • Maintain accurate records related to purchases.
    • Manage goods throughout the purchasing/receiving process.
    • Confirm accuracy of orders and issue purchase orders.
    • Submits invoices in a timely fashion.

    Supervisory Responsibility – None.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bilingual (Spanish)
    • Associates degree in Business or related degree, or equivalent experience
    • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
    • Familiar with OSHA, TCEQ and EPA regulations
    • Ability to motivate, speak, train and interact at different levels of the organization
    • Ability to drive performance related to leading indicators for HSE
    • Ability to work independently, proactively and professionally with minimal supervision and guidance.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple activities on a daily basis and possess skills in attention to detail/accuracy/flexibility.
    • Ability to build and establish strong working relationships with employees and leaders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

    Preferred

    • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
    • 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll
    • 1-2 years of experience in a Safety-related role
    • Working knowledge of HRIS systems and business information (payroll/timekeeping) systems

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to travel through facility to conduct safety inspections.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Materials and Equipment Directly Used

    • Standard office equipment including computer, mouse, keyboard, telephone, multifunction copier
    • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
    • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history and educational background. 
    • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
