Job description

Animal Caretaker will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at the Allegan County Animal Shelter with responsibilities for kennel cleaning/walking/feeding of animals.

Responsibilities

Handle general care tasks such as feeding and kennel cleaning of the animals

Assist in restraining animals for veterinary management

Create intake paperwork for all animal intakes

Create Kennel Card for all new animal intakes

Provide intake vaccination/prevention for animals

Keep records of animal feedings, treatments, and other updates

Keep up daily laundry and cleaning for animal health per state mandates

Engage in play activities and exercise with the animals

Maintain a clean and healthy environment

Provide weekly inventory list for animal food and shelter supplies

Qualifications:

Previous experience in animal care or other related fields preferred

Passion for helping and treating animals

Ability to follow protocols and direction from Operational Supervisor

Ability to interact with animals in a calm, non-threatening manner

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Able to work self-motivated, as well as team-oriented, as job needs develop

Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted regularly, 50 pounds assisted
