    OPERATIONS INTERN ROLE

    This is an hourly, entry level position funded with up to 144 hours for the season at approximately 15-20 hours per week. On-site requirements will typically fall on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10-3pm. Volunteer groups, foster family events and holiday events will have some weekend and evening commitments throughout the season. 

    Looking to start mid November and end around January 15th. 

    We partner with SummerWorks PDX for this internship. To be eligible for this program candidate needs to be 18-24 YEARS OF AGE. There will be a few requirements with SummerWorks that interns must meet. 

    Wage: $13.25/hour

    With Love is a local nonprofit established to support foster families as they change the lives of children ages 0-6 by providing resources that nurture dignity, hope and community. 

    Our goal is to provide safe, clean and quality clothing, gear, books, diapers and toys to help ease the transition and support children and their foster parents who many times, find out they are receiving a child mere hours before bringing them home. We are primarily volunteer based, and care deeply about making With Love a place where volunteers feel cherished, valuable, and needed.

The OPERATIONS INTERN role was established to support our operations with efficiency and sustainability as we grow to serve an increasing number of families in bigger and better ways. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE IS A HIGHLY MOTIVATED, SELF-STARTER WITH A SOLUTIONS-FOCUSED MINDSET COMMITTED TO PROJECT COMPLETION. 

    This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Operations side of the With Love organization. This includes but is not limited to the roles outlined below. Projects and tasks in this role vary by season and need. 

    • Assist with coordinating and organizing the storage of tangible goods within the warehouse space while also supporting their effective distribution to foster families

    • Support, appreciate and coordinate with a dedicated team of volunteers in the facility

    • Engage with and appreciate first time and repeat donors during drop-off times

    • Coordinate with foster families requesting services, both on-site and through virtual means (phone/email)

    • Lead volunteer groups in processing donations and supporting the facility with the most pressing tasks

    • Support staff--especially during seasonal events such as Season of Giving and Foster Family Retention Events.

     

    This position is very special for our SEASON OF GIVING. The Operations Intern will be critical in helping serve 500 kids in foster care this holiday season. This role will be interacting with donors, foster parents, and organizing the items that are being donated. This is a fun role that requires energy and focus to be successful in a busy season. As this project continues there will be an ongoing “Playbook” that the intern will be creating for the staff. At the end of the internship the Operations Intern will be presenting this playbook to the staff as a final project. 

    This position reports to the Program Supervisor and works from time to time with the Executive Director.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Desire to work in a lean, start-up, growth environment that requires urgency and positivity with volunteers, donors and community members

    • Drive to be a self starter with a persevering attitude

    • Well-developed organizational skills, including the ability to create, communicate, and execute quarterly and longer-term plans

    • Aptitude for multitasking and positive, solutions-focused mindset

    • Able to maintain acute attention to detail in a fast paced environment

    • Ability to energize and motivate others to take actions to drive positive impact in the foster community

    • Experience working with spreadsheet and document software; Google Suite & Microsoft Office

    • Polished, professional demeanor and ability to connect with a wide range of volunteers and donors

    • Creativity, flexibility, initiative, and a sense of humor

    • This role requires regular and repeated lifting of 50 lbs 

    • This role requires occasional evening, weekend, or early morning flexibility

    • Meet the age requirements for SummerWorks for 18-24 years old

    • Able to work Monday, Wednesday, Fridays 10-3pm.
