Position Summary
The Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) provides comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare to women across the lifespan. This role focuses on reproductive, gynecological, prenatal, and preventive health services, emphasizing education, early detection, and overall wellness. The WHNP collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive health assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations
Provide routine gynecological care, including pelvic exams, Pap smears, breast exams, and STI screenings
Deliver prenatal and postpartum care, including patient education and monitoring
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions related to women’s health
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and lab results
Provide contraceptive counseling and family planning services
Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical guidelines and protocols
Qualifications
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of practice
Certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC)
Current DEA license (if applicable)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Experience
Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience in women’s health, OB/GYN, or related field preferred
Experience in outpatient or clinic setting strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of women’s health issues across the lifespan
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to provide compassionate, culturally competent care
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Proficiency in EHR systems and basic computer applications
