    Job Description

    We are seeking a Healthcare Data Analyst to join our Health and Wellness Centers. This role requires regular travel between Health and Wellness Centers locations in the Central Valley. For the right candidate, this will provide an incredible opportunity to build, develop and foster collaboration among a team that is evolving a new model for world-class health and wellness that can have an immensely positive impact for underserved and vulnerable populations.

    The Healthcare Data Analyst will use clinical, operational, and financial data to measure organizational performance and guide continuous improvement efforts to maximize clinic efficiency and population health improvement. This Healthcare Data Analyst position requires knowledge of EMRs, experience with clinical operations, and data analytics. The ideal candidate would be a sharp analytical thinker who is eager to play a role in transforming healthcare through data; strategy consulting is a plus.

    This Healthcare Data Analyst position reports directly to Executive Medical Officer. This role is based in Los Angeles and requires travel to the Central Valley of California.

    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    • Design, build and maintain reporting tools using data from our Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Epic, to support data-driven decision making at all levels, from front-line staff to executive leadership.
    • Support clinic operations by developing standard processes for use of the EMR in daily work
    • Train clinical staff on use of the EMR and standard processes, as well as develop processes to audit flow to ensure standard work
    • Liaise with Health IT vendors used by the clinic
    • Ensure EMR system's daily functioning by performed regular system maintenance
    • Review quarterly updates released by the EMR system and ensure they are tested, communicated to affected staff, and optimized for use by clinic staff
    • Serve as first line technical support to clinic staff for troubleshooting software and hardware-related issues; manage support tickets submitted to our EMR vendor and our managed service provider.
    • Use health care analytics to mine clinical data to measure clinic efficiency and opportunities for improved patient experience, treatment, and cost reduction.
    • Coach staff members on quality improvement projects using LEAN methodology
    • Develop presentations to communicate findings to team members at all levels, from the clinic floor to the board room.
    • Maintain data privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by clinical leadership

     

     

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • The ability to work and act independently, and to make and carry out decisions with minimal supervision.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
    • Maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
    • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
    • Culturally sensitive and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with ethnically diverse populations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required with preferred concentration in data analytics, business, public health, marketing, or statistics
    • Minimum two years of experience with data analysis, report design, and project management
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
    • Experience with SQL/database querying
    • Experience with Epic and its related reporting systems, including business objects, Clarity, and Javelin
    • Demonstrated passion for improving the healthcare system and helping underserved communities
    • Demonstrates independence by driving projects with limited oversight, anticipating next steps, and leverages strong business judgement
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as attention to detail
    • Excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills
    • Superior cross-functional collaborator with the ability to quickly establish rapport and credibility at all levels within an organization, including the executive and board-level
    • Basic financial acumen and experience in population health or clinical data analysis strongly preferred
    • Strong project management skills, having managed and successfully completed diverse projects preferred
    • Certified health data analyst Certification or equivalent preferred
    • Demonstrated experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred
    • Basic financial acumen and experience in population health or clinical data analysis strongly preferred
    • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
