Wonderful Education’s aim is to dramatically increase the number of college graduates from the Central Valley of California. Since 2013, the Wonderful College Success Program has served over 1,000 scholars from Wonderful Education’s three feeder prep programs: children of Wonderful employees, graduates of WCPA, and students who’ve successfully completed the Wonderful Ag Prep program. Through a holistic, individualized support program, robust summer programming to equip incoming first-years with the tools to succeed, and career development programming, the Wonderful College Success team guides each Scholar on his/her/their path toward earning a four-year degree. This new role and team will shepherd Wonderful Education high school students to the work of the College Success team by acting as a guide from high school to college with the important work of successfully managing the high school to college transition.
Wonderful Education is seeking a COLLEGE PREP COACH to serve as a high school to college coach for a caseload of high school seniors to support every step of their educational journey beginning in the spring of 11th grade through the first term of college. The ideal candidate brings a passion for and experience in education/youth development, a tireless commitment to helping seniors and scholars achieve their goals no matter the barriers, and the ability to contribute to a fast-paced team who works across the state.
This position is currently open and we are hiring multiple College Prep Coach positions across the state in various regions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and maintain high-touch relationships with seniors and Scholars to be able to best support college & career goals of each student while in high school
· Provide holistic, high-touch support for a caseload of seniors, guiding them during the college application and decision processes toward their college and career goals
· Conduct regular interactions with seniors and Scholars based on student needs (including academic, socio-emotional, financial, etc.) to develop action plans that end in successful college and career transitions
· Develop robust knowledge of college-level support services (academic, mental health, student life) and collaborate with College Success coach to support Scholars first college term
· Leverage data and Salesforce to maintain accurate information about each senior and Scholar for leadership updates and to be able to support all seniors and Scholars with fidelity
· Manage senior and Scholars’ Wonderful College Scholarship per term as needed
· Support program development and execution, including college decision and transition events, overnight college trips, and summer camps
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· A commitment and passion for educational equity and justice and the desire to work tirelessly on behalf of students from California’s Central Valley.
· An eager, flexible learner and problem solver who feels comfortable taking initiative.
· A self-starter with exceptional work ethic and the ability to work well away from colleagues and management.
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
· An ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with scholars.
· A valid California driver’s license required.
· Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree in education, youth development or social services preferred.
· At least 2 years of work experience in a related field/role
· COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
