    Job Description

    A DAY IN THE LIFE AT WONDERFUL:

    Wonderful Education is seeking a COLLEGE SUCCESS COACH to serve as a college coach for a caseload of scholars at every step of their educational journey beginning in the spring of 12th grade through college completion. The ideal candidate brings a passion for and experience in college access and college succes, a tireless commitment to helping scholars achieve their goals no matter the barrier, and the ability to contribute to a fast-paced team who works across the state.

    The College Success team is currently hiring a coach for the southern California region, primarily LA or San Diego. Due to COVID, California guidelines and Wonderful policies, this position is currently a remote- work position and all work travel has been suspended. Upon office re-openings, this position may require staff to report to offices in Los Angeles or the Central Valley. Additionally, this position may require candidates to travel up to 50% to meet the requirements of the position. When travel is required, all mileage is expensed per IRS guidelines. A valid CA driver's license is required for this position. This position will require occasional evening and weekend hours.

    Scholar Case Management:

    • Support students in meeting their educational goals by working closely with them in selecting courses, identifying strengths, supporting with selecting their major and act as a supportive guide throughout their college experience.
    • Conduct regular touchpoints (ranging weekly to monthly) with scholars to develop individual action plans with scholars who require additional support.
    • Complete regular Scholar Status evaluations multiple times a year, providing a snapshot of the scholar's progress toward his/her graduation goal.
    • Conduct regular on-campus visits for each scholar.
    • Provide individualized financial aid re-application support.
    • Develop robust knowledge of institutional support services (academic, mental health, student life) and share with scholars when appropriate
    • Leverage new student management system (Salesforce) to maintain accurate information about each scholar, record scholar engagements, manage tasks, applications, and other administrative tasks.
    • Manage scholars' Wonderful scholarship application process bi-annually.
    • Provide additional supports for scholars as needed and as designed programmatically.

    Program Management:

    • Participate in the design and execution of academic year programming such as Kick-Off events, career planning webinars, teambuilding at a specific campus, or academic office hours.
    • Participate in the design and development of the College Transition Experience, College Graduation event and new internship program.
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

    • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree in higher education or social services preferred.
    • A commitment and passion for educational equity and justice and the desire to work tirelessly on behalf of students from California's Central Valley.
    • An eager, flexible learner and problem solver who feels comfortable taking initiative.
    • A self-starter with exceptional work ethic and the ability to work well away from colleagues and management.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • An ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with scholars.
    • A valid California driver's license required.
    • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
    • COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
