    Job Description

    Role Purpose

    In this role, you will work with Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables consulting, research and short-term power teams to assist in the modelling of scenarios related to the evolution of the North America power market. You are responsible for establishing best practices, meeting deadlines, and ensuring that the team and service have the resources and infrastructure necessary to evolve with the ever-changing market landscape. You will help develop a collaborative team focused on quality, creativity, and a strong commercial focus. In doing so, you will get considerable exposure to a global list of top investors, developers and owners that have a stake in the North American power generation sector and energy transition.

    Main Responsibilities

    · Act as a subject-matter expert with an enterprise-value mindset to maintain and improve the power modelling practice of the firm.

    · Lead client interactions and idea exchanges to develop proposals that include project scopes, timelines and fees

    · Manage and process large datasets and translate results into meaningful condensed output for presentation to both internal and external stakeholders

    · Commercially focused - Innovative product and solutions development

    · Have a highly commercial frame of mind with experience interacting with clients

    · Dynamic personality and an ability to multi-task on multiple projects - Work well under tight deadlines and time-sensitive project deliverables

    · Team player with the ability to work independently as part of a consulting project team to deliver modelling results on time

    · Ability to inspire and develop colleagues individually towards a common goal

    · Extensive industry experience in the North American power sector with fundamental knowledge of ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISONE, SPP, WECC and SERC. Experience in Canadian markets a plus.

    · At least 7+ years of strong experience doing fundamental power market analysis using dispatch models (Aurora, MIDAS, Plexos, PROMOD, etc.) to create complex bespoke model scenarios requiring capacity rebalancing

    · Experience in power asset economic modelling and financial valuation for multiple types of technologies including solar, wind, natural gas and battery storage

    · An understanding of electric power flows and grid transmission dynamics to incorporate into analysis

    · Strong communication skills and ability to communicate complex power market and modelling concepts to a range of stakeholders

    · Experience using MS PPT and developing well-articulated slides

    · Quantitative background and degree (e.g., economics, finance, engineering)

    · Familiar with SQL, VBA and other dataset manipulation software

    · Occasional travel required

    Deliverables (INTERNAL ONLY)

    · Build out scenarios with the NAPS team to be used in thought leadership pieces.

    · Customized forecasts and reports in collaboration with the Power and Renewables consulting team.

    o We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
