    INTERNSHIP

    Wood Mackenzie is seeking to fill 2 intern ship roles (please note in cover letter if preference):

    POWER AND RENEWABLES -  The Power & Renewables team provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services that help our clients with commercial and strategic decisions that arise from the rapid transformation of the electric power industry. Combining our deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, and grid technologies, with our global power market modelling and analysis capabilities, Wood Mackenzie can provide guidance and insight spanning supply chain, technology, costs, market issues, fundamentals outlooks, price forecasting, asset valuation, and commodity market impact issues.

    The successful candidate must have enthusiasm for the Energy business, data skills, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to maintain and improve relationships with the wider team, Wood Mackenzie's Power & Renewables business. As a member of an open, dynamic and innovative team, the intern will carry out research on an emerging theme within the energy business. Interns will have the chance to work alongside leading Analysts and industry authorities in their field while assisting in the creation and implementation of research products to advance the maturity and competitiveness of the global P & R industry.

    Preferred Experience

    • Proficiency with data
    • Proven interest in the energy industry, with particular interest in power and renewables
    • Advanced skills in Excel and Data Modelling
    • Database or programming skills desired: Python, R, VBA, Kapow, XML, HTML, JSON, C#, ArcGIS, SQL, AWS, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Kafka
    • Understanding of Data visualization tools (such as Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, Quicksight)

Discovering our client’s needs and aligning that to our product development is a core function of delivering the right data and tools.

    This internship position places you right in the middle of this feedback loop between clients and our product teams. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the engagement team in turning qualitative data from our clients in the form of meeting notes, audio/video recordings, and other forms into quantitative data that our product, commercial, and marketing teams will use to drive the next generation of Wood Mackenzie products. You will get to work across a number of our global teams as you support their efforts in understanding how our clients think and make decisions. You will be exposed to both the world of oil and gas as seen through the eyes of banks, operators, governments, etc. and will get a glimpse into how software and product development works.

    Preferred Experience

    • Proficiency with data analysis
    • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Industry
    • Skills in Excel and Data Tracking

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • Proficiency with MS Office suite including Access & Excel
    • Proficiency working with large data sets is required
    • Strong Analytical & Writing Skills
    • The ability to work closely with colleagues to design and deliver high quality solutions
    • Adhere to best practices and maintainability while freely knowledge sharing with colleagues
    • Must be either entering senior year of Bachelors or in Masters program as of June 2019 in related field such as economics, finance, or engineering.
    • Must be able to work in Houston, TX without relocation or housing assistance.
