ROLE PURPOSE 

Wood Mackenzie’s North America Gas Research team provides industry-leading fundamentals analysis and commercially relevant insights covering the North American natural gas market. This analytical role in the North America Gas team is pivotal to the success of the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering in-depth, high quality gas market analysis. This role will also be one of the team's primary users of Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary GPCM forecasting model and will contribute significantly to the team’s short- and long-term gas forecasts and regional analysis. The role holder will collaborate with the team to help publish written reports and presentations for clients on the WoodMac portal (www.woodmac.com).

An analytic mind, an interest in economic market fundamentals (supply/demand), and ability to work with statistical models and large data sets will be essential to deliver success in the role. A collaborative attitude and a desire to develop or expand gas market knowledge are also critical.

 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop fundamental supply/demand market analysis for a designated region.
• Assist senior analysts with in-depth gas market and pipeline infrastructure analysis, creating ways to visualize that analysis and communicate our views to clients.
• Support the integrated markets update process for Americas and Global Commodities teams.
• A primary user for Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary GPCM forecasting model.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRED ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

·       Economics, statistics or similar quantitative background

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Years of experience: 0-3 years
• Strong understanding of supply/demand interactions and market dynamics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
• Experience with data visualization (Power BI, Spotfire)
• Experience working with statistical models and large datasets
• Previous experience working in energy markets or with GPCM is preferred but not required
