Wood Mackenzie products serve many customers across the energy and natural resources sectors that depend on data, insight tools and business process automation solutions which are delivered through API’s and User Interfaces. The team are currently working on a next generation, data analysis & visualization platform utilized by our customer to drive billion-dollar decisions.
We are looking for a Vice President, Product Management to help lead our product management organisation to build and leverage the new platform. You will lead the evolution of our approach to building out scalable products and solutions that leverage common, reusable capabilities across multiple market segments.
You will also be a key driver in the transformation of the business to being product and customer led, acting as a partner and enabler across the business to embed consumer and customer insights into daily decision making and product roadmaps.
This role will also work with the regional and sector leads to ensure products and solutions are built to fit customer needs whilst remaining scalable.
About the role
You will build, lead, and develop a world class product management team who are responsible for driving product strategy and planning, delivering product enhancements, monitoring and owning return on investments, and communicating with a large and varied stakeholder group including executive and senior level management to manage expectations. You will be responsible for:
Developing and executing product strategy as part of the corporate business plan.
Recruiting new product talent to complement and complete the existing team.
Delivering and managing an efficient global product portfolio including global products and some regional products. This will require full product life-cycle management, roadmap governance, prioritisation, and driving high quality decisions.
Leading effective communications across the organisation in support of key product initiatives, roadmaps and tactical execution, as needed.
Collaborating and partnering with the engineering, research and data teams to ensure that there is a well-defined charter across product and engineering teams for the product group.
Working alongside product and platform leaders to address both product and platform capabilities in roadmaps.
Coordinating and streamlining the product roadmap input funnel and outbound communications and stakeholder management.
Reviewing, defining and delivering compelling product offerings which are the most appropriate product packages per market segment at optimal pricing.
Driving market penetration while ensuring maximum incremental monetisation of new propositions and capabilities.
Leading and supporting product launches including support for marketing, sales, customer support.
Working collaboratively with Sales and Marketing to achieve best-in-class go-to-market capability.
Creating a culture focused on solving customer/user business problems.
Creating an environment that fosters innovation and collaboration with all team members, where all individual activities contribute to the overall team outcomes in a ‘one team’ approach.
Creating an environment which will deliver enduring success through a combination of culture creation, roll-out of necessary processes and governance, people and team coaching.
Qualifications
About you and how you can excel in this role
You will be a self-starter, energised by a challenge, passionate about bringing great products to market, and love the thrill of creating a new standard for what’s possible.
You will be a contemporary, data driven product leader with a demonstrated track record of success within a modern product-led company with proven ability to define and communicate the product portfolio vision and product strategy, preferably in an analytical platform. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Demonstrated experience managing and directing commercially successful, scalable, reusable product capabilities within a large, complex product portfolio.
Experience creating and maintaining a portfolio level view of the product roadmaps, while championing longer term thinking and responsible for major trade-offs to achieve strategy and visions.
Advanced stakeholder communication skills, being able to bring them on board with your vision,
A deep understanding of customer and business value and the ability to make smart trade-offs and prioritisation decisions in a complex organisation.
Experience in working with senior commercial and go-to-market leaders to communicate, partner, and ensure clarity on product strategy, roadmap, and execution.
Agile, and iterative software product development expertise.
Excellent oral and writing communication skills.
Previous experience in the energy, natural resource or B2B information sectors is preferred.
