    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Data Engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining the demand forecasting processes and models supporting Genscape’s existing and future products.  Currently, there are about one hundred demand models requiring maintenance.

    The Data Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of our product development effort and model improvement program.  Our analytical models incorporate thousands of data parameters and detailed market information to model energy flows and pricing based on key market drivers.

    Maintenance/development tasks include but not limited to:

    ·       Research evolving technologies that could improve demand model accuracies as we look to stabilizing out current demand models and then purchase or develop the next generation of demand models using evolving technologies.

    ·       Input data validation

    ·       Creation of new utility zone demand models which will include the analysis of the population areas, identifying weather stations and applying the appropriate weights, and the analysis of the geological topology surroundings.

    ·       Tracking model accuracy statistics

    ·       New model testing and validation using existing in-house tools and designing new ones to help improve quality and efficiency.

    ·       Model training utilizing up to 15 years of demand and weather data.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    ·       2+ years of experience with data mining knowledge about load forecasting methodologies such as statistics and neural networks. Statistic knowledge and experience with R or SAS or similar would be a plus.

    ·       1+ years of experience with SQL Server databases and knowledge of SQL Server, Analysis Server, Integration Services, MatLab, and C/C++/C#, is a strong plus.

    ·       1+  years of experience in programming, testing and quality validation in SQL database environments.

    ·       The candidate is expected to be able to manage his/her workload to fit for the best needs of the company.

    ·       The candidate is also expected to have good communication skills to manage relationships with internal clients.

    ·       BS in mathematics, statistics, engineering or related required. MS in mathematics, statistics, engineering or related preferred but not required.

    ·       Working experience around power demand forecasting is a plus but not required.
