    Job Description

    ROLE PURPOSE 

    You will be a valuable member of the Wood Mackenzie’s Metals & Mining Global Analyst Team (GAT). This team sits within the Research function and helps produce detailed market supply-demand, cost and price forecasts at the regional and global levels. It is also a key enabler in Wood Mackenzie’s purpose to transform the way we power our planet.

    As a Research Associate in the Metals & Mining GAT, you will contribute to high-quality research in the form of thought-provoking reports, presentations and articles. You will also help build new products and services, as we embark into the new wave of growth for the Mining & Metals business and Wood Mackenzie in general.

    Through your research and responding to client queries, you will build your network of contacts at key companies and industry associations. You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the mining and metals industry, including the challenges and opportunities it is facing in facilitating the global energy transition. Your contribution to our industry-leading written reports, supply-demand models and presentations will be valued.

    Qualifications

    Having a keen interest in commodity market dynamics and you want to develop an in-depth understanding of how these markets underpin the natural resources industry and impact our everyday lives. While GAT members typically cover multiple commodities, this role will large focus on coal, so you will have a demonstrated interest in this sector.

    Having an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which have been proven in your academic and/or work experience to date. You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You are curious and seek to clarify and enhance your knowledge by asking thoughtful questions. You also have a flair for writing and communication and confidence in presenting to an audience.

    Being highly adaptive team player and embrace fast-paced environments with frequent change. Being excited to be part of a team that give you opportunities to work cross-functionally on a variety of tasks. You can work independently and as part of a global and regional team, generating ideas you want to share. The way in which you work is productive and driven, striving to be best in class.

    Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of at least one other language would be an advantage. You also have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

    Please note that while the role is based in Houston, we are willing to consider applicants who would prefer to be based in one of our other US offices.
