SUMMARY: The Bartender is responsible for mixing and serving drinks to guests, and taking food and beverage orders in the bar area. They are expected to consistently enforce all WA State Liquor Control Board regulations and Woodmark Alcohol Service Policies. The Bartender assists in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond Standards.
The Bartender shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times, and are responsible for exemplifying the Woodmark Standards of Excellence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintains a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction
Mixes ingredients to prepare cocktails and other beverages according to established recipes; uses appropriate measures and pour counts
Adheres to all WA Liquor Board and Woodmark Alcohol Service policies
Takes and enters food and beverages orders into the POS system, obtains credit cards to begin tabs and ensures bookkeeping so proper payment is received
Ensures opening, ongoing and closing sidework is complete and signed off by a manager on duty
Follows all Woodmark Cash Handling Procedures
Complies with the P.C.I. Policy and regulations
Counts money in cash drawers at end of shift to ensure the amounts are correct and there is adequate change; ensures end of shift bank is balanced with appropriate procedures followed in daily drop
Maintains appropriate liquor, beer and wine pars and ensures supplies/ingredients are properly stocked before, during and after shift
Responsible for daily requisition completion
Properly reports tips and hours at the end of each shift using the proper documents for recording
Verifies minimum age requirement for alcohol purchase/consumption
Offers menu suggestions to guests; is familiar with all specials
Ensures proper handling, cleaning and sanitation of coolers, bar area, equipment, china, glass and silver
Stays current on beverage trends
Attends monthly mandatory department meeting and appropriate hotel meetings
Resolves guest issues promptly and with great care and effectiveness
Provides general hotel information for guests
Follows the Woodmark Standards of Excellence
Maintains an up-to-date working knowledge of all hotel amenities as well as any special events
Interacts with hotel staff in a professional manner, and assists other departments with necessary information
Upsells other hotel services and amenities to guests
Communicates all pertinent information to the restaurant team
Maintains constant awareness of safety issues and reports all safety incidents to a supervisor
Adheres to the Woodmark Lost and Found procedures
Adheres to the Woodmark Appearance Standards
Assists the restaurant team and performs other duties as assigned
Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least one year bartending and food & beverage experience preferred experience preferred
At least one year hotel server experience preferred
At least six months experience with POS systems preferred
At least one year of customer service experience required
Prior hospitality experience preferred
JOB REQUIRMENTS:
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to read, write and speak English; accurately follow both verbal and written instructions
Must possess valid WA Liquor card upon hire
Must possess valid WA Food Worker card upon hire
Must be detailed-orientated and able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
Must possesses excellent communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs;
Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull frequently;
Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
