    Success in the role of Plumbing/HVAC Apprentice is defined by providing essential support to journeyman and/or master plumbers in maintaining plumbing systems. This includes identifying repair and replacement needs, ensuring timely completion of assignments, and providing valuable information on equipment usage.

    Responsibilities for the Plumbing/HVAC Apprentice:

    • Coordinates with supervisors and other trades to efficiently complete projects/work orders.
    • Diagnoses and resolves plumbing system issues, such as water leaks, frozen pipes, and blocked drains, to identify repair and replacement needs.
    • Installs domestic water and vacuum systems to ensure comfortable, sanitary, and safe environments in facilities.
    • Maintains plumbing tools and equipment to keep systems operating safely.
    • Prepares written documentation, including work orders and equipment inventory, to document activities and convey information.
    • Repairs and maintains various plumbing items, systems, and components to ensure functionality and safety.
    • Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability.
    • Responds to emergencies to address immediate safety concerns.
    • Tests for leaks in new and repaired systems to ensure functionality and safety.
    • Transports tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites as needed.

      Requirements for the Plumbing/HVAC Apprentice:

    • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
    • Ability to perform various technical tasks, with periodic skill upgrades to adapt to changing job requirements.
    • Specific competencies include operating maintenance and repair equipment for plumbing fixtures, adhering to safety protocols, and project planning and management.
    • Proficiency in algebra and/or geometry, technical reading comprehension, document composition, and problem-solving.
    • Specific knowledge areas encompass safety practices, plumbing installation, troubleshooting techniques, relevant codes and regulations, and blueprint interpretation.
    • Physical requirements include significant lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and fine finger dexterity.
    • Job duties involve 15% sitting, 55% walking, and 30% standing, with exposure to temperature extremes and potential injury or illness risks.
