Current opportunity with WorkLB:

INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE | ENGLISH & SPANISH (part-time with more emphasis on flexibility)  Under immediate supervision, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment; prepare instructional materials and provide routine clerical support; perform related duties as assigned._ _

PAYRATE: $17.61 - $21.81 PER HOUR

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Confer with certificated staff to plan instructional activities, | | discuss student academic progress and behavior, and implement | | activities to meet the individual needs of students; assist in | | facilitating students into general education classrooms and other | | learning environments_._ | | - Tutor individual or small groups of students in a variety of | | academic subjects to explain and reinforce learning concepts; | | correct classroom and homework assignments; compute and record | | scores as assigned. | | - Provide assistance, participate with, and monitor students in | | activities such as educational games, reading stories, songs, arts | | and crafts, and physical education exercises; observe and record the | | social and academic progress of students. | | - Participate in the monitoring, discipline, and behavior modification | | of students; redirect inappropriate student behaviors; implement | | behavior plans for students in accordance with District procedures; | | record and report student behavior issues. | | - Perform a variety of personal hygiene activities for students such | | as toileting, diapering, and dressing; prepare lunch trays and feed | | students unable to feed themselves; assist students to sit, stand | | and walk. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Consistent with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 and other related legislation, candidates for this classification must meet the follow standards:

The equivalent of graduation from high school and ONE of the following:

1. Completion of at least two (2) years of study (48 semester units or 60 quarter units) at an institution or higher education; OR
2. Attainment of an Associate of Arts degree or higher degree; OR 
3. Meeting a rigorous standard or quality by receiving a passing score in an examination administered by the Personal Commission, Which demonstrates the knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics.
