We are seeking a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - who will provide clinical social work services on the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of LCM-SPH and the NASW. The Social Worker is responsible for Psychosocial assessments. Participates in treatment team planning, processing commitments, discharge planning/case management service, crisis intervention, and liaison services with referral sources and other departments within the hospital's Health & Services and community. Patients to include adults 18 years or older. Designated as a Behavioral Health Clinician to perform 5150 evaluations. All LCSWs must follow the guideline by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for LPS designation and keep their designation in current status.

In this position you will:

Provide age appropriate direct service intervention proactively and upon request to individual patients, couples, families and groups to include: Psychosocial assessments, short term psychotherapy, supportive therapy, and discharge planning and community resource referrals
Review charts and completes intervention with emphasis on identification of issues related to Psychosocial assessment, treatment plan, intervention/referral and follow-up
Actively participates/facilitates patient care rounds/case conferences
Proactively identify unmet patient needs in area of service and initiates programs/services/in-services as needed
Consistently prioritize caseload by completing assigned work with minimal assistance
Knowledgeable and helpful in assisting patients with advanced directives. Keeps current on ethical issues in patient care

Required qualifications for this position includes:

Master's Degree in Social Work
LCSW licensure by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
Designated as a Behavioral Health Clinician to perform 5150 evaluations within 18 months of hire. All LCSWs/LMFTs must follow the guideline by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for LPS designation and keep their designation in current status
CPI certification (nonviolent crisis intervention training) within 1 year of hire
2 years experience in healthcare related setting with psychiatric mental health patient population or within an emergency department working with psychiatric patients
Computer experience as needed for the job
Advanced communication skills to communicate effectively with patients, interdisciplinary team physicians and the community
Knowledgeable of case management, group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management, family therapy theory and practice, and community resources
Flexibility and strong self-motivation / organizational skills to prioritize work and make decisions with minimal supervision
Courteous and cooperative service-oriented demeanor
Computer literacy as needed for the job
