Position Summary: The Day Counselor – Job Coach plays a vital role in coordinating and implementing individualized community-based activities, vocational exploration, and support for adults with developmental disabilities and autism, including those with higher behavioral needs. Working as part of ServiceNet's Work Crew Community Based Day Supports (CBDS) program, you will provide direct 1:1 support to participants during work crew activities, ADL training, life skills workshops, wellness activities, and community outings — helping them build the independence and confidence to thrive.
About the Work Crew CBDS Program The Work Crew CBDS program supports adults with developmental disabilities through structured work experiences, skill-building, and community integration. Participants engage in community-based work crews (landscaping, detailing, maintenance), ADL training, life skills workshops, wellness activities, and gaming. This program serves as a meaningful daily environment where participants build real skills and real connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Individualized Behavioral Support
Implement behavioral interventions and de-escalation strategies as part of an individualized support plan.
Utilize positive behavior support techniques to promote engagement and independence.
Vocational & Community Engagement
Supervise participants during work crew activities, including landscaping, vehicle detailing, light maintenance, and trash removal.
Provide 1:1 coaching for individuals with higher needs, ensuring success in community and work settings.
Support participants in vocational activities, social skills development, and employment readiness.
Adjust tasks based on individual abilities and behavioral needs during work crew rotations.
Skill-Building & Program Activities
Facilitate ADL training sessions covering cooking basics, cleaning, budgeting and personal organization.
Support life skills workshops on communication, safety, money management, and public transportation.
Lead or assist with recreational and wellness activities including group walks, stretching, art, gardening, and structured gaming.
Access and apply evidence-based approaches in structured learning and socialization sessions.
Behavioral Management & Crisis Intervention
Implement individualized behavior plans and interventions in collaboration with the RBT Site Manager and clinical team.
Use calm, professional de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral incidents.
Follow emergency and safety procedures, including elopement protocol, medical emergency response, and incident reporting.
Transportation & Community Safety
Transport participants safely to community activities, work sites, and outings.
Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and complex behavioral needs in a day program, residential, or community setting.
Ability to provide hands-on support with ADLs.
Training in behavioral support and de-escalation techniques (or willingness to obtain).
Strong communication and problem-solving skills to work independently in a community setting.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
Ability to pass a complete background check (CORI/Fingerprint).
Certifications in CPR, First Aid, and PABC preferred (training available).
