Our workers' compensation law firm has a full-time Associate Attorney position available now and we’re looking for the right experienced lawyer to join our team. You will be responsible for all phases of litigation representing injured workers up to and, possibly, through trial. We have a heavy motion practice so you must be an accomplished writer and well-versed in compensability, medical causation, and 1208 fraud. We also have multiple depositions every month, so you must be experienced in defending and taking them. You will essentially have to be capable of picking up existing and new files from day one. Responsibilities: • Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff • Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings • Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice • Assist with workers' compensation cases under the supervision of a senior attorney with 20+ years of experience • Conduct legal research, prepare and respond to discovery, defend client depositions, prepare and argue dispositive motions, and participate as second chair at trial • Maintain client files to ensure up-to-date information and documentation is readily available to properly assess and resolve the claim • Identify and adhere to all internal and court-imposed deadlines • Interact with clients to gather facts and documents related to their claims and to give them confidence in our representation Qualifications: • Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base • Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills needed in order to work with all levels of staff and our clients • Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school • Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Applicants must have successfully passed a state bar exam at least five years ago Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 yearly
