Workers Compensation Attorney

San Francisco, CA
Full Time
Paid
  • Responsibilities

New Gig Solutions is working with a well-established California workers' compensation defense firm that's expanding its team. This firm has built its reputation on strong advocacy, efficient case management, and a genuine commitment to the clients it represents, and now they're looking to bring on an attorney who wants to grow alongside them.

If you've felt like just another file number at a bigger firm, stretched thin by heavy caseloads, slowed down by layers of bureaucracy, or stuck without a clear path forward, this could be a good next step. The firm is looking for someone who wants more than a paycheck: a place to put down roots, sharpen their skills, build real relationships with clients, and have a say in where the practice goes from here.

    Location: Remote, anywhere in California

    Responsibilities

    • Handle a full caseload of workers' compensation defense matters from the initial filing through final resolution
    • Represent employers, insurance carriers, self-insured entities, and TPAs in all phases of litigation
    • Take and defend depositions
    • Appear before the WCAB for MSCs, lien conferences, hearings, and trials
    • Shape case strategy and advise clients on practical next steps
    • Negotiate and close out settlements efficiently
    • Keep clients in the loop with responsive, trustworthy communication
    • Work closely with fellow attorneys and support staff to deliver strong outcomes

    Qualifications

    • Active, good-standing California State Bar license
    • At least one year of hands-on experience defending workers' compensation claims in California
    • Solid grasp of California workers' comp law and WCAB procedure
    • Comfortable and capable in depositions, negotiations, and the courtroom
    • Able to run a caseload independently, with minimal oversight
    • Clear, confident communicator, both written and verbal
    • Organized, with a handle on managing deadlines and competing priorities
