Workers’ Compensation Paralegal
️ Overview:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced paralegal to join our plaintiff-side workers’ compensation team in New York – either in Rockville Centre or the Bronx. This role involves supporting attorneys in advocating for injured workers throughout the claims process, with a strong focus on compliance with New York State Workers’ Compensation Board (NYS WCB) procedures.
️ Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct client intake and gather documentation such as C-3 forms, medical records, and wage statements
- Draft and file legal documents including RB-89s, RB-89.1s, and other NYS WCB forms
- Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and depositions
- Maintain and update case files in compliance with NYS WCB regulations
- Communicate with clients, treating providers, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel
- Track hearing dates, deadlines, and maintain attorney calendars
- Prepare hearing packets, settlement documents, and stipulations
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and document production
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or paralegal certificate (ABA-approved program preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in New York workers’ compensation law
- Familiarity with NYS WCB eCase system and related filing protocols
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software (e.g., Needles, SmartAdvocate)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Bilingual Spanish Required.
