    Responsibilities

    • The Licensing Associate will be responsible for a portfolio of commercial use inquiries and in/out-licensing opportunities, negotiating and drafting out-licensing and other collaborative agreements consistent with the licensing playbook guidelines, while prioritizing out-license opportunities according to the licensing strategy from general and commercial use inquiries. He/she must have a sales mindset; must possess the skill to identify a lucrative opportunity and be able to “close” them because he/she will be responsible for revenue-generation associated with out-licensing that meets or exceeds plan.

    • The Licensing associate is also responsible for timely and accurate input of information, data management and metrics in the Inteum database and other tools used by the team. Provide operational support to the Sr. Director, Contracts Licensing and IP as assigned.

    • The Licensing Associate must also be able to think, work and complete tasks independently as well as a part of a team, as he/she will also work with other business units within the company to identify potential in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities.

    • The Licensing associate must also be able to create licensing strategies consistent with organizational goals, manage and implement processes for efficient and cost-effective deal-flow management as assigned and assists with the contract compliance program. He/she must also be able to track/follow through the licensing process from initial contact through execution, accurately inputs data in the Inteum licensing database, and provide regular licensing metrics updates and reports to senior management.

    • The Licensing Associate may perform IP assessments as needed to ensure availability of company assets for out-licensing and internal new product development. He/she may assist with Freedom-to-Operate and Compliance processes as needed.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science or Business/Intellectual Property Law required. Advanced degree in business, law or health sciences preferred; may be substituted for equivalent work experience.

    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience in licensing, technology transfer or contracts administration in academic or life sciences corporate setting required. Experience with Inteum or other intellectual property/licensing portfolio tracking databases preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to take initiative, work independently as well as part of a team.

    • Ability to multi-task and exercise sound judgment.

    • Ability to creatively negotiate and close deals.

    • Must pay great attentive to detail with a high level of accuracy and organization.

    • Strong project management skills; must possess strong analytical skills and complete tasks ahead of schedule.

    • Resourceful, diplomatic and professional; deliver outstanding customer services while managing relationships.

    • Adaptable; be able to shift priorities and focus as departmental and/or business demands change.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including excellent listening skills to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.

    • Follow all company safety practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

    • Position-relevant computer/technology experience including Microsoft Office required.

    • Demonstrated negotiation and legal agreement drafting skills.

    • Demonstrated license portfolio and contract management.

    • Sense of urgency to ensure that deals remain on track to successfully close negotiations.

    • Strong business acumen and critical thinking abilities.
