    Workforce Genetics is recruiting for a Scientist/Senior Scientist for an early stage biotechnology company that is based in Frederick, MD. This position can be based from home. 

    Company Overview:

    Our is a privately held biotechnology company developing first-in-class therapeutics that target the underlying pathologies of diseases with unmet medical needs.  The company's lead candidate is in development for the treatment of patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT). Second-generation therapeutic products are under development for type 1 diabetes and other immune-mediated and inflammatory diseases.

    This position can be home-based.

    Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to :

    • Reporting to the CSO, you will be responsible for leading research and translational projects for the organization to advance their research and clinical pipeline.
    • Coordinating assay development projects with contract research organizations (CROs) including:
    • Development and optimization of cell-free and cell-based assays in medium- to high throughout (96/384-well) formats to support further characterization and lead optimization efforts.
    • Proactively analyze experimental data and integrate data from other experiments, and literature to make informed decisions to improve existing or develop new assays.
    • Present results, implications and conclusions to the team and senior management.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PhD in a related scientific field with demonstrated research and/or drug development experience
    • Experience in biochemical (cell-free) and cell-based assay development; strength in experimental design, execution and data analysis using multiple assay platforms.
    • Proficiency in plotting and analyzing data in programs such as Excel and Prism
    • Experience with hematology and/or platelet biology is a plus
    • Experience with directing and managing CROs is a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be a self-starter, proactive, co-operative, and proficient at working both independently and in a small team environment.
