    Job Description

    The Manager of Medical Affairs will act as a liaison between our client and their consumers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders, by providing high level strategic and scientific expertise related to the company’s product portfolio. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: organizing events, content generation and strategy (i.e. publications, blogs, newsletters, web copy, etc.) and general KOL management. The individual will also help facilitate or provide guidance in other key areas, as applicable, including sales, marketing and customer support. The Manager of Medical Affairs will be responsible for aligning the strategy for the Medical Affairs group. The individual will become a subject matter expert on the company’s product portfolio.

    Responsibilities for this role include:

    • Product understanding: Maintain a good working knowledge of overall product portfolio, whilst developing a deeper expertise in an assigned portfolio of products
    • Content Development: Develop product relevant content strategies and write publications, blogs, video blogs, recipes, newsletters, web copy, etc. to support medical affairs and other departments such as marketing, sales, training, customer support, etc.
    • Education, Training and development: Deliver up to date and evidence based product training to both internal and external stakeholders
    • Internal and external nutritional/technical support: Manage a team responsible for the first port of call for all incoming enquiries from customers, HCPs, patients/caregivers and international colleagues.
    • Customer relationship management: establish and develop professional relationships including development of educational activities.
    • Commercial and clinical skills: Provide scientific input and expertise into the development and construction of marketing materials for both HCP's and patients.
    • Clinical knowledge: keep up to date with evidence based practice, particularly of business relevance and ensuring continuous professional development. Represent my client at international and national scientific meetings

     

    Additional Responsibilities include:

    • Manage two Dietitians and ensure appropriate responses are generated for technical-clinical questions from consumers or other parties.
    • Develop product relevant content strategies and write publications, blogs, newsletters, web copy, etc. to support medical affairs and other departments such as marketing, sales, customer support, etc.
    • At times serve as a liaison between medical affairs and cross-functional teams
    • Support matters pertaining to society and public outreach and media sources.
    • Manage, plan and deliver on specific one-time assignments inclusive of meetings and specialty society engagements
    • Partner with key opinion leaders on therapy refinement and new applications, specifically:
      • Identify and prioritize outstanding clinical questions that need to be addressed;
      • Facilitate peer-to-peer training and troubleshooting; and
      • Supervise Medical Affairs personnel, as applicable

     

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3-5 plus years’ experience in biotherapeutics or nutritionals industry; probiotics, nutritionals, supplements highly preferred.
    • Minimum basic understanding of medical regulation, clinical aptitude in therapeutic areas, global cultural understanding and hospital/lab procedures
    • Experience in Medical / Technical writing for publications, blogs and training materials
    • Experience in clinical sciences, physicians training and medical/clinical affairs
    • Experience in cross-functional/team work relationships
    • Proficiency in the use of personal computers including all related software applications – PowerPoint, Excel, MSWord. Experience with graphics is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skill
    • Understand and interpret technical, scientific and clinical information
    • Ability to lead and to translate issues into actions; make decisions and influence outcomes
    • Ability to manage programs within budget

     

    Education and/or Experience:

    • BA/BS in nutrition, health science, life science, biological, medical/clinical sciences or related field preferred
    • Nutritionist or Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred.
